  • TJ's Acoustic Music Club - Feb 16th - GFSAers in action.

So this is the next show at TJ's. Your host for the evening will be.... [rummage through notes]... what was his name again?.... [more rummaging].... oh yes! X-rated Bob. Also on the bill will be Deefstes and the artist-formerly-known-as-Stratisfear (who was red hot last time out and is bringing an entirely different set to this show). More details later...
Looking forward to this one. :applause:

    Will bring the pom-poms.
I think I'll be joining the jam!
Just to clarify. This is NOT an open mic night. Open mic is the last Thursday of the month. This show (as with the show on the 2nd) is in a bigger room, with a bigger PA. Less performers (all invited) and longer sets.

All GFSAers are, of course, most welcome.
man, wish i could come to every one of these, but kinda difficult as i work most nights...ill see what i can do to get there...
know what you mean, i can only manage it every other week, working standby, but i'll definately be there every chance i can.
I need too make it to atleast one of the main shows, sounds like a blast.
              Ok.... the full lineup is
              • Brendan Peacock
              • John & Janet van Nierop (this will be an instrumental set)
              • Tom Howden
              • Dot & Tamaryn Hodgskiss
              • Deefstes
              • X-rated Bob
Doors open at 19:30. Music starts at 20:00. Drinks and light meals may be ordered from the Marks Park staff. Admission is just R25.

Deefstes is the latest graduate from open mic night and I'm sure he will acquit himself well. The open mic nights are a part of TJ's that I feel strongly about and which have real value to those of us who have aspirations to share music with an audience. So come along to open mic nights! I will get more shows to run for TJ's this year, and I am always looking for people to "promote" from open mic nights to the main stage.
                * bump *

Can we have some idea who from GFSA, other than Fingerpicker, Deefstes and myself, will be attending. If there's sufficient interest from the forum I can put a "reserved for GFSA" sign on a well-placed table.
K and I will be there.
I've been meaning to attend one of these, but I'll be out the country for 3 months.
I'm looking forward to this, albeit with some trepidation. But it'll be real cool to see some more GFSA'ers around. Come on, let's raise a crowd.
Bob, Ilse and I will be there
Okay, something horrible going on with my connection, my search queries are taking forever. I know this has been asked plenty of times before, so one more time, what's the address of this place again? :-[

ok... It's at Marks Park sports club. That club is in Judith Road, Emmarentia (opposite the entrance to Melville Koppies). Judith Road runs approximately east-west between Barry Hertzog and Beyers Naude.

The main entrance to Marks Park has a security check with a boom. Tell the guys at the boom that you are going to TJ's and they will point out the particular building that we use and show you where to park.

                            And here's a map

The red circle marks the Marks Park main entrance off of Judith Road.

Note that there are permanant camera speed traps, in both directions, on Barry Hertzog between Judith Road and Empire Road, and on Beyers Naude between Judith Road and Northcliff Corner. There may also be ad hoc traps on either road.

Ok ..... you will ...... see ya'll later!
Thanks Aubrey ? see you later
So, to be there I'm giving up some movie tickets that I won on 702 ("My Week With Marilyn") so I hope you buggers appreciate the massive sacrifice I'm making (because, like, I would love nothing more than to watch a biopic about Marilyn Monroe being escorted around Britain)...

So who did you give the tickets to ?
OK. I'm off to Marks Park, thus will be off-line for a bit.

                                      See y'all there.

The storm will be over soon, so don't let the weather put you off.
