Just sayin ?
Oh, and in case anyone wonders what the final conclusion is now that the issue has been dealt with... die Antwoord is crap
Yea...missed that one. Vic invoked Godwins Law.{I think I did it earlier on in the same thread which should have, according to said law, obliterated it! {The thread that is :?}}
Godwin's law just refers to the inevitability of Hitler being mentioned - and that's all.
Aah, but one should not not overlook the complexities and intricacies of the various corollaries that exist to augment Godwin's Law, some of which have been accepted as canonical by Mike Godwin himself.
X-rated Bob wrote:Godwin himself was aware of the potential for misuse if there's a law that says that a mention of Hitler ends a discussion: Anybody having painted themselves into a corner just has to mention Hitler.
Which is why the corollary has been formulated that, not only is the debate over, but also will that member have lost the argument automatically.
X-rated Bob wrote:Anybody wanting to suppress a particular debate just has to mention Hitler.
This is elegantly covered by Quirk's Exception:
Intentional invocation of Godwin's Law is ineffectual.

I'm not kidding, these things are very real. Google it if you wish, or follow this link to a USENET e-mail by the hon. Godwin himself.
People are so selective when finding reasons why "today's" music is so artistically and morally bankrupt while yesteryear's music was not. Actually, the same reasons that their parents used.

The Rolling Stones did "Cocksucker Blues," and "Stray Cat Blues" ("Well I can see that you're just 15 years old. But I don't want your ID.") at the height of their artistic genius. The Beatles did, "Why don't we do it in the road?" Zappa did "Mudshark." But of course that was all brilliant. This, on the other hand will corrupt the youth for evr an evr an evr. And it's rubbish. When they said the Stones and the Beatles were rubbish, that was just because they were old fuddy-duddies. Now that we're the same age, we know that today's music is really rubbish by a whole set of completely objective standards. :?

This is what it looks like from the other side of the mirror folks. The younger ones here would have been burning Beatles records back in '65.

I believe that this song was a bit of a leg pull after the Stones were fined for urinating in public.

I don't think that you had to do too much in the 'old days' to be considered unfit for human consumption. You can find the most revolting and disgusting stuff that you want on the internet these days. That doesn't necessarily make it popular though. Die Antwoord seem to be able to market their particular form of art in a manner balanced enough to make it both popular and abhorred - and that appears to be the key to success for them. I don't think that they are that musical but they certainly know something about marketing.

Fairly tame this one...ninja's rapping reminded me of his Max Normal days, I'd listen to more Die Antwoord if he continues heading back to what I thought was his best (musical) work

I thought I spotted a few familiar faces in the video...http://radio.com/2014/11/04/die-antwoord-ugly-boy-video-marilyn-manson-jack-black-flea/

In a weird way this song seems to have a pretty deep meaning... Well... that's my interpretation ?
Still not my scene though... hehe
Oh well, the debate has raged for 23 pages, might as well fuel it a little bit more.

I'll come out and say it. These guys are just plain crap. No, not because I find them repulsive (which I do) but simply because, judged by common standards, they are unsuccessful. They have had four years to make a mark and they haven't. They are "popular" not because they are musicians but only because they shock and I use the word "popular" loosely as it is more like a small but vocal cult following.

The only award they have to show is the Myspace Best Music Video of 2010. Does Myspace still exist? Anyone? Flip, The Parlotones have been more successful than Die Antwoord. Whether you love or hate The Parlotones, at least they are measured on their music, these guys are measured on their shock value.

Nope, I think they're getting a disproportionate amount of press - much like Julius Malema and Steve Hofmeyr. It's not like they get publicity for the trade in which they're applying their craft. They're getting publicity for their shock antics. Sorry, I'll pass and I actually wish the rest of the world would move on as well and leave these wankers to fade into the obscurity where they belong.

Ugh, these okes are so lame. Will try anything for attention. Sad to watch actually.
I think the song and video are brilliant...I love it.

I don't know why & what I love about it, but I just do.

                    And, yes she's damn sexy!!!

Anyone who thinks it's easy to make music like they do, try it, you'll fail...

                    IMO
Plus one to everything that Lance said.

I find it "interesting", won't go as far as "love". It's well done though and I think it hits the mark they were aiming for.
They get bonus points for having Jack Black in it... hehe.

They are good at what they do for sure. There is a level of respect I have for people who are making waves in the music biz, whether I like their style or not. I even admire the biebs for "making" as far as he has.

I can never take them serious. They feed on exploiting cape colored gang culture, gangs are a big problem in SA and there is nothing glamorous about raping, killing, doing drugs and stealing!
Now for the last couple of years they have started to use all these voodoo/satanic filth in their music videos. Its revolting just like their vocabulary! I dont see how anyone can find this vile music entertaining! Its just promoting everything thats wrong! This world is filled with this kind of garbage these days and people just accept it and then complain about the state of things in this country as well as the world even though they just love SIN!

Not mad about them. Enjoy her cameltoe from time to time though
