  • Hello from a drummer, is this the right place for me?

Hello, I'm a drummer in bloemfontein. I've been playing for about 10 years and for a million bands including Steeple Jack, Glitch and Bearded sushi. I have started a new project and would like to find fellow bands in bloem who are interested in gigging. So I'll post around and see if anyone is interested. And it's good to see a project like this in SA so THANKS!
Well, we'd expect a drummer to get confused about the whole "guitar forum" thing.

    I'm kidding! I'm kidding! ?

Welcome. There are a couple of enthusiastic drummers on this forum including one of our lords and masters, Alan Rattcliffe.
And yet there seem to be a shortage of drummers in relation to guitarists. So welcome! I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it here ?
        Welcome!

Yes, we started as a guitar community, but many of us play other instruments or work/play with PA or recording too, so it's branched out a lot. Ideally I want this place to end up more like musicforum.co.za - Personally, I like taking apart and over-analysing all gear and instruments. ?

But we need more skin pounders around - we are still woefully outnumbered by the rhythmically challenged, strident six string slinger types.

oi. just because we doesn't talk rythm, didn't mean we can't understand what it are.
Of course you're in the right place... most of the folks on here could learn a thing or two about keeping time ?

Like this "friend" of yours who's a bass-player in a blues band?

? Understanding and doing it properly are two different things.

is that like, the difference between getting the 'where did i come from?' book and, er, getting a girl to, you know, want to go out on a second date, as it were?
Has anyone else had the strange experience where you can’t play your instrument on guitar hero? I'm hopeless on the drums but ok on the guitar and my brother is the opposite, He's a guitarist who's better at the drums than the guitar.
                      Welcome welcome...

I suck at both on guitar hero.

No, don't scare him away, they're a rare breed, even if they only count to 4.
                                  youre right :-[

that was terribly insensitive of me...

No worries I'm used to getting that kind of treatment from my fellow band mates ? One thing I see this site lacking is a gig guide / do you want to do a gig some time topic. Not sure about everywhere else but the gig scene in Bloem gets a bit dry for most of the year ☹

And as for the bearded sushi thing, It's not as interesting as one might think so I'll leave it up to your imagination ?

And I over do emoticons :woohoo:
