Pop on some head phones and listen to the amazing bass on this...

=

I don't care if it's too busy, it KICKS!

Edit: I think it's Jerry Scheff?
'69 would have been the TCB Band era, so that would be Jerry Scheff on bass, also James Burton, Glenn D Hardin.... really fab band and you can hear how together they are.

Scheff was actually an R&B bass player until he got the gig with Elvis, so he tended to bring an "un-country" approach to his role in The King's band.

He played on the Doors "LA Woman" and was invited to join them. Then Jim Morrison went and died and put the kibosh on that plan.

    Excellent player.
Yeah, that's not bad at all!
That's a band of awesome players having an absolute ball live. Definitely an R&B rhythm section and they do it well - all the right bits are there, but they are filling in the spaces too.

Definitely my kind of bassist - I'd love a rhythm section like that.
I'd love to be in that rhythm section... off to listen to LA Woman now.

Woah awesome bassline on that! Sounds like the guys are having a whole lot of fun. Nice find ?
Jerry Scheff has played with both Elvii - Costello & Presley. So have Jim Keltner & James Burton. That's a nice little band right there.

I'm pretty sure that Burton & Keltner didn't have much to do with the Lizard King.

                WOW,

I would happily move on if I could just once play a bassline like that.
What a slick line! I haven't ever associated Elvis with killer bass parts, what a pleasant surprise!
