PTA / Joburg Get-together

Mannoroth · 2011-11-29T09:16:39+00:00

Hi all, Would anyone be interesting in attending a get-together in Pta / Joburg area? I'm quite new to this forum so not sure whether this has been done before / how it is usually organised. Could be great to meet some of the guys / girls we havent already met, talk a bit of guitar and have a few beers. Please indicate if anyone would be interested and I will see if I can coordinate something. Im thinking not too late in December coz many people are going away, maybe a Saturday eve or something. ?

Averatu

Postpone.
So the venue just pulled a 360 even after going there and asking. Rather find a different venue as well.

NorioDS

Joel phoned someone he knows at the venue and confirmed that they will be open Friday night but there won't be live music. Most likely a DJ.

The venue wanted to move Mark's performance to Thursday as it's the last day of work for most people, so it would make for a lekker jol.

Mannoroth

Majority vote seems to be postpone 'till later?

Unless we still go to the same place with no live music. I'd be cool with that - just for meet n greet then - or is the damage done? :?

Seventhson

I don't really mind not having a band play. ?

Yeh which ever. If everyone pulls in, I'll go, if the decision is postpone, I'll go to the next one. Not phased either way. Lack of a band isn't a make or break for me.

Guess the pertinent question is which number is greater, postpone, or go?

Neon-Gecko

If there's a fair turn out, I'll go on Friday, but by the looks of things most seem to want to postpone. It'll be pretty pointless if two or three guys pitch though...

Dude , thats a bit unfair .

Firstly ,

Its a business they're running there and its obviously better for them financially to have this weeks main event on this Thursday evening rather than their normal Friday evening .
In any case , its not like 368 of us were going to pitch up and make it worth their while :-\....looks to me only about 8 to 12 of us were going to pitch up anyway.

Secondly ,

It is a great venue and they are open every day and every evening 7 days a week. ( I phoned again to check ).
We can meet ,( for free !) , greet and eat there any time next year that suits most of us....

I also vote no. 3. and postpone this till next year when much more notice can be given and more GFSA members can come........ 8)

PS ....hopefully by that time seventhson will have a girl and a driving licence... ?

Don't get your hopes up on the driver license. But the girl I most prob will ?

Mannoroth

This is getting complicated. Okay people I'm going to try and simplify matters for us so we can make a decision. We have been reduced to two options (of which one was not on the original list of options ?)

Final votes!

1) Postpone and organise on another date well in advance

2) Go ahead as planned (same time & venue) without live band

The guys who already voted "postpone" don't have to vote again unless they want to change their vote to option 2.

I will tally the votes at 16h00 tomorrow afternoon - lets say if we have 10 or more votes for option 2 we go ahead, if not I will notify Norio and also post on this thread that we will postpone to another date...

Everyone cool with that?

guidothepimmp

im cool with that.

I vote go...

If in the end, the go's are less than 10, lets postpone.

Mannoroth

Hi all,

As per majority vote we will postpone the get-togther untill further notice.

This will most likely be done early in 2012.

Pity it didn't work out this time but we will make it happen eventually! Thanks a lot for all who assisted (especially Joe for organising with venue) and apologies about any inconvenience caused.

hope to see ya all soon!

We are having a bit of a get-together on Saturday. The purpose is to have an informal workshop on REAPER as it turned out that a number of us are REAPER-interested but REAPER-illiterate.

See the thread here -> http://www.guitarforum.co.za/recordings/tjop-dop-reaper-workshop-(21-jan)

It'll take the form of a couple of sessions of noodling on the PC and REAPER with TomCat showing off his prowess, interspersed with a tjop & dop around the braai. If any of you have an interest in getting to know REAPER (you already have an interest in getting together), gimme a shout.

Averatu

Protools baby.

Hammeron

Shit a brick, it's a get together...get it together!!!....Re-invent the wheel later. ?

Averatu

Crap a cracker.
