  • Using the six-step Angus Young fitness plan to keep in shape during gigs

It's so difficult to find the time to exercise as we get older. We're busier than ever, and need lots of time for practise and performance. How do we stop the slide towards poor health when we must spend so much time working on our chops?

I have therefore analysed the stage technique of AC/DC's Angus Young and developed a Six-Step fitness plan for guitar players. Now you can use your playing time to stay fit!

    Ausum Singe!!!

Great timing seeing as though I recently picked up an SG!!!

At the expense of getting laughed at I will attempt to start this exercise plan from next practice ?

      great article singemonkey +1

however that said i do personally prefer the janis joplin/ amy winehouse fitness plan of numerous elbow lifts using a bottle of "jack" as a weight and deep breathing exercises thru the nostrils using a straw ,while moving ones neck in multile lateral movements ........ and if you perservere with this method .......... you'll never have to worry about being out of shape or overweight ..cos you'll be dead long before you get old enough for your metabolism to slow down enough to turn muscle into fat
Sorry Keira, but you're past the sell-by date for true WinehouseJoplin style life. Last time I checked this style does not involve living past 27, and we all know you're about 29 ?

              :roflmao:

Edit: I think Singe will have to add another category... the 6 steps under a festival tent in the sun... lovely stage but I think we all lost about 10kgs yesterday, which I s'pose is the point!

I think I also lost about 10^6 brain cells thanks to free Stella Artois, not having to drive, and more free bourbon chez Jack ☹ I even have a UPI.

Damn. Why am I even up...

Keira - I think you've given me an idea for how to get the youngsters involved in exercise ?
                  Excellent stuff.

Any chance of an article on the Keith Richards long life regime? Lancet might well be interested in that.

Yes. But I'm more interested in preserving healthy life as a guitarist - not being able to keep playing after it's over ?
