ok here is the scenario:
I have been using the M-Audio Nova condenser mic, but it has a real dull sound to it, looking to upgrade to something better.
condenser mics aren't cheap at all, i'll be needing a new condenser mic soon, one that can cover applications like vocals, acoustic guitars and guitar amplifiers.
I've looked at a few mics now and is impressed with the Rode Nt1-a and its price range.
I have used Rode mics before and have always been happy with the results.
Here is a few i got in mind:
Rode Nt1-a
Rode K2
Rode NTK
Akg c1000(a bit overpriced i think)
Would anyone suggest a mic that would suite my application for a home studio? under R3000

For under 3k I'd suggest the Shure KSM27. It's the lower end of the KSM large diaphragm condenser series but it should be in that price range.
RODE tends to exaggerate too much on the high end. Which works well for Overheads/hats/ride but for vocals and steel string acoustic it's a tad bit much in my opinion.

Rode Nt1-a - stunning mic for the price and a great all rounder.
Rode K2 - don't know, but way out of budget.
Rode NTK - Well, I have one and love it. I experimented with a few different valves and found one that suited it really well, tightened up the low end a little and tamed some of the presence peak. Not sure if this is in your price range though.
AKG C1000 - Great small diaphragm mic, but aren't you looking for a large one like the C2000 or C3000?
But... Look at the Rode NT2-a - not much more than the NT1-A and has things like a variable polar pattern and bass cut switch.

Thanks.
Well if it really is a awesome mic, i can make an exception with the proce range.
But its for home studio use.
I'll go and find out about the nt2-a and the ksm27.
The akg mics are too expensive!!!

i would also go for Rode NT2a
silky smooth , low noise , great response
the variable polar pattern allows you to record omni-directional , cardiod, and figure 8 i think
omni-directional is cool for capturing and including the room ambience of accoustic guitar...
just an example, the possibilities of this mic are endless

to throw a spanner in the works.. why dont you go have a look at the Studio projects C1 and the SE microphones?!
The Studio Projects are VERY cool, and very affordable. SE has some killer mics. Rode is very cool, and you cant go wrong there. But before you do buy, go have a look at the other 2 brands.
