Thx Mike, Keira and rikus - much appreciated. Hopefully next week we will see images of the finish completed and all nicely polished - then it's a little while before we get the pickguards from USA. ☹

I think whichever pickguard you put on, it is gonna look great against that backdrop ! ?

Where did you order from, by the way?

Almost there. Some polishing doen and final polish tomorrow I think.
Excellent work and I just love the transparent burst and finish - Wayne "nailed' my requirements here!

This is really very lovely. Tell me though, is there not a problem ordering toroiseshell pickuard from USA? It's supposed to be very flammable. I'm thinking along the same lines for my stratocaster body but maybe a little lighter closer to apricot and maybe not a burst. Then I was thinking of putting a blak/red/black pickguard on. What bothers me is that my pickups have got cream covers and I cant really picture what that will look like and with maple board.
But back to pickguard, I also read that it shrinks over time. But what sort of time I dont know.
Ag goodnes man! You're doing more harm than good with this thread. Just when I was resolving to pay some of my outstanding fines (not nearly all mind you) you come along with one of these threads.

Darn - went to the Post Office today to collect my Warmoth Pickguards (Tortoiseshell and Aged White Pearloid), but it appears the pickguards are still somewhere over the ocean and all that arrived was this:
I guess I shouldn't complain ☹ ?

Gorgeous ? ? ?
I Love it!

Getting a little cheesed off here - the pickguards have been listed as "International Mail" on Warmoth website since 17th November!!!
I bought the Paisley (used) above and paid far less shipping and it arrived ages ago. My Ron Kirn Strat was shipped last wednesday and is now "In Transit" in "POYLE, GB" but Fedex SA have already called and said it should be here on Monday. And yet a small enveleope with two pickguards is still nowhere since 17 November!!! >☹ >☹ >☹ >☹
Sorry, just had to rant a bit...

If it's normal mail I don't bank on seeing it for six weeks (sometimes four, then I'm happily surprised). If it's the faster mail, then Warmoth should be able to give you a tracking number and you can check with customs locally.

Collected the pickguards yesterday and just got back from Wayne. The finish on the Tele is amazing and the pics just don't do it justice. We debated the choice of the two pickguards I got from Warmoth (excellent quality by the way - can't compare with the Mighty Mite ones), a Tortoise and a Vintage Pearl, and both llok fantastic. Will try and post some images in the next day or two.

well i for one can't wait. so far this has been a 'bated breath' redo for me, so the finished product should be a thing of bootie. i'm picturing the vintage pearl and drooling, the tortoise is feeling a little like it will fade into the finish in my mind. but it ain't my geetah... bring on the pics! ?

Aah so the controversy starts ? Wayne preferred the Vintage Pearl and I the Tortoise, but they both look great.
For me a key factor is the blend of Fretboard, Pickguard and body finish. If the fretboard was rosewood I think I may have gone for the Vintage Pearl but being Maple, I thought the Tortoise was a little better. In my opinion the Vintage Pearl draws the eye to the pickguard and the Tortoise highlights the garin and finish of the guitar.
As I said to Wayne, to put it another way the Vintage Pearl is Country and the Tortoise is Blues.
The beauty is I have both so can always change later on.
By now I know you're expecting a few pics but ..... sadly, patience is a rare thing nowdays !! ? ? ? ? (hey, give me a break I still got Christmas shopping to do!)

Ok, here's a basic pic taken with Wayne's cellphone. I hope to take a few more soon, maybe tomorrow.
