Ok this has gone on long enough. Tried PMing one of the folks with the funny nicks? Every now and again you send a pm to the wrong person, I just sent one to "Brendon "BluJu" Neuhaus", but it also went through to a "Brendon".

Can you guys not just put your old nick in your signature? I mean seriously, do you even need "screennames" or aliases if you have your real name on here anyway?
thats the thing... rather the other way round for me. keep our nicknames as they were, with real names in sig. my nick is the same for everything. youtube included.

    just my 2c

    I agree btw

Ah yes, and I will be there over the holidays. You must definitely pop round mate!!

I really never noticed it. And my email is similar. Crazy!!!

Not not a function of anything other than similar names having been registered. Which we can't control. Everytime I try to PM "Warren" I have to pay extra attention because there are other names beginnging with W A R R E N on the forum.

Check before you click! The PM facility does display the names it's actually going to send to rather than the names you thought you entered.

There are some constraints on nicks in the rules, other than it's up to each of us.
                    That's not the case Bob.

I went to his userpage, clicked the PM button, and it went to 2 people because of the quotation marks in his nick.

OK... I was trying from the PM page, composing a new PM. What you describe does happen, and it's because of the double quotes in the nick.

I note that a "#" in the nick creates problems too.
                        Hi guys ?

At some stage I will be updating the forum to the latest software. (Need a whole weekend or 2 to test it fully) I'm hoping issues like this one will be sorted out as a result but, for the meanwhile, please hang in there.
I really don't know why people cause such confusion by changing their "nicks" - so inconsiderate !!!! ? ? ?

lol.................I don't think that I've ever been in a forum where the users have been able to change the nicks....................
On this issue, next to the PM "To:" box is a "Find Members" link. Using that, you get the user's username, instead of their "display name". The display name is what causes these issues, so this should help.

PS: I remember noticing a thread about real names but didn't read it. Can someone point me at it so I can see what prompted this double-quote madness? ?
Ah okay, so it's all Tamla's fault ?

It seems that some folk are using single quotes instead of double - that ought to fix this. I must say, I certainly prefer knowing people's actual names. It's so awkward meeting someone in real life and saying, "Hey! FruitMasher! Good to meet you, man, it's DogTreats here. So what's your real name?" (10 mins later) "Nice meeting you... er... umm... FruitMasher ?"

Has the forum changed the changing of nicks option? I can't change my nick. I want to remove the 'FruitarGeek' and place it in the signature instead.

It has to be done by an Admin - Myself or Norio. Done it for you. ?
