I've found an awesome secondhand offer on a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410 for 8500 - perfect condition.

I want to use the amps original cleans and then throw in a pedal (like a Vox Satchurator) in the effects loop for more heavy tone purposes.

Good idea much?
most fender tube amps excell at cleans ...so if you prepared to use pedals for heavy drive you'll have a winner at a good price...8.5 K is not bad at all.....
I would not recommend the De Ville 4x10.

Sound wise it is good but imo the 2x12 sounds much better. The 4x10 config just doesn't work for that amp.
The second reason is the weight and size. This amp is not very practical and very heavy.

You may be better off with the 1x12 40 watt hotrod deluxe or if you really want the extra power the 2x12 deville.

As for the price you see twin reverbs going for that or less so if you don't mind a huge amp I would hold out for one of those.

All that being said it is still a kick ass fender amp so if you like it and can deal with the size go ahead. ?
i have a deville 212 , in immaculate condition that im looking to sell. pm me if you keen

OK the Deluxe (40watt) caught my eye at a music shop.. I think the Deville (60watt) is going to be a bit of a overkill for me. I play live often but I'm afraid of not getting the best tone out of the amp, since I'm never gonna be turning it up that loud in clubs and so on. It's also friggin' heavy!

After some research I see the Deluxe retails for R14k, but about R10k with cash discount. Proguitarshop can get them for me for 6,101.28 ZAR incl. Shipping (excl. SA tax)

Do you think it's a good idea to buy it from Proguitarshop? Seems like an amazingly good price to me.. Whatcha think?
            <sigh? we need a FAQ...

Proguitarshop won't ship Fender to SA. Even if they would, it would be a 110V version, so you'd have to at least get a stepdown transformer or have the power tranny replaced. Then add + 14% VAT and import duties of about 10%. Anywhere else, you'd pay hefty shipping too. Either way you'd also have no guarantee.

Wait for one to pop up on sale (I think it was T.O.M.S. who was selling them for R7K at a recent sale) or buy secondhand.
