  • EC Series Amplifiers: Slow Hand Made. Fender's First Signature Amplifiers.

http://www.fender.com/en-US/products/clapton

As per the email i received from Fender and the blurb on the site:

In a historic collaboration, Fender introduces its first artist signature amplifiers—EC Series amps bearing the name of legendary guitarist Eric Clapton. Built to the exacting specifications of Clapton himself, the three amps—the EC Twinolux™, EC Tremolux™ and EC Vibro-Champ®—are fascinating variations on their original '50s-era ancestors (the '57 Twin™, '57 Deluxe™ and '57 Champ®, respectively), and are our answer to his call for special models with distinctive features.

Handmade in the United States, all three amp models feature '50s—era output tube bias tremolo (which produces a more throbbing pulse than later Fender tremolo circuits) and a switchable power attenuator (reduces speaker output), in addition to other premium features. In a historic career now in its sixth decade, Eric Clapton has long been known as one of the world's foremost exponents of classic Fender tweed amp tone, and the three new amps bearing his imprint present the pinnacle of personally inspired amp tone for stage and studio alike. Each is a must for Clapton fans and guitarists who want the ultimate in tweed tube amp performance.
Follow the link for Pictures, a demo featuring Buddy Guy playing on the EC Twinolux, and full specs.

(But seeing as they are Eric Clapton Signature amps, i would have expected ol Slowhand to demo them himself?!)

so after the 3 middle men in europe take their cut and the local okes we looking at 100k for the twinolux then..

I have always like the Tweed retro look on an Amp.

      These have serious price tags.

Adding to your Albion soon Norm? ?

        Something like that, unfortunately. :'(
This will definitely be one amp to import yourself and it will work out much cheaper, even with shipping and tax. But lets leave that be for now ?

          Serious indeed!
          Adding? haha, not a chance...
          i would rather buy something else for ($4200 x R8.32=) R34 944.00 than one amplifier! ?
Ya, I'm sure GFSA members will be queuing up to get at a R53,000.00 'self imported amp' with no warranty...I think Roland Cubes at less 50% is a better local deal. ?

            $4199.99 = R34,850.00 + 25% import duty = R43,570.00 + VAT = R49,670.00 + shipping = R53,000.00...and I've left out a few things.

Rather let the Fender distributors in SA lay out a few hundred thousand Rand of their own hard earned cash to give us the opportunity of walking into a music store and abusing these new beautiful amps on display. ?
Jip, you left out the middlemen in EU, the distributors here and the shops..
So more than R53 000 hard earned rands...

Now, lets try not discuss the pricing as we dont know what it will be here, but rather the amps themselves, the point to point wiring, the high end components used etc ?
Really nice features on those amps. Love the trem, probably the same as the old 5G9 Tremoluxes.
                  The Tremolux is awesome!!!
Just gonna go sell my car quick.....hahaha my cars sale wouldn't even get me the cover!!!
                  8)
The only EC signature amp recognised in the harsh state of Monkey:

                    ?
HELL YE MY FRIEND!!! HELL YE!!!
                      8)
Those prices are beyond crazy. I'd rather lay down 10k for a PhilX Evil Robot amp. Fretted Americana are VERY helpful when it comes to shipping ?

Ah, but is that a Eric Clapton signature series amp??
                          Probably not! ?
i find it odd that they chose eric clapton as their 1st role model for signature amps...........

oh and i love the idea of a point to point top end amp with that fender tone , but surely eric is no longer such a role model in the industry , i would understand a john mayer amp, but i never thought eric's sound was something other players wanted to clone........ maybe back in 70's but not now in 2011.jus a thought..... but hell yes i love the amps ?

I agree... especially since a lot of players are after the earlier non-Fender Clapton tones as proposed by Monkey and seconded by Canon...
I actually think it would be good if Marshall had taken him back on (or is it the other way round?), I'd be more inclined to listen to his new stuff... ?

Nope it's not. These days I equate PhilX with good tone more so than I associate EC with good tone.
A EC Bluesbreaker/JTM45 would be awesome, but the handwired reissue ones were already rather pricey I can only imagine what an EC Bluesbreaker would cost.

The Evil Robot is based on a tonemaster amp.
                                      Magnatone technically ?

Or pay ez 5K to build it for you and it will still be way cheaper ?
