  • Guthrie Govan at Tanz, Johannesburg, last night.

I am speechless. The clinic/workshop was brilliant, but the guy is by far the BEST guitarist I have ever had the privilege of seeing and hearing "LIVE".
Going tomorrow ? (Cape Town). Did he play through any of his originals? Should I take a pad of paper with me, pen etc? Did he do any signing?
Yeah, it was fantastic! i didn't see you there Aubs... nor anyone else from GFSA. (not that I know what anyone looks like). I think Randal was there though! hahahahaha.
        All I can say...

I TOUCHED HIS BEARD!!!!! ? Hahaahhahaha!!!!

Stratisfear (Brendan) and I were 3rd row from the front. I sat next to the guy (Dennis) who won the freaking Epi!!!! We were so close, I could smell his breath.... think it had something to do with the Rizlas ........hahahaha
Nice! I was in the back somewhere! Didn't see Brendan either lol.
What a champ guthrie is though!
Awesome stuff guys, but please tell us if:

              1. He gave autographs
              2. He was ok with fans taking photos with him

              etc etc

Well Arjun, the format seemed quite "open" ......yes, he gave autographs (they sold his latest CD, and he autographed them), and you could do photos with him ...... after the show/clinic.

He started with a background biography, started playing at age 3 etc, then played a track, beginning to end. Then he took questions, discussed them etc. and in between talked about anything "thrown" at him. He has an amazing sense of humour, with some really smart /witty snippits. The whole gig was very relaxed.

He took about 5 "last questions", I think he enjoyed the gig as much as all who were there

Someone (from Marshall music) said to me the the gig was about one and half hours ....... it actually lasted almost 3 hours!!!!

(they sold his latest CD, and he autographed them),
awesome i'm getting one of those
