The Unread Posts/Replies Debacle

Somewhere along the line, during a forum update, the functionality of the unread posts option changed resulting in some of us (myself, Bob and others I presume) missing out on topics. To be specific, the functionality seems to have changed from showing all unread posts to showing unread posts since your last visit.

In my attempt to correct this, I returned its functionality to showing ALL unread posts but this has caused an issue for folk who now have a gazillion posts to catch up on. So... I have:

Returned the functionality of both "Unread Posts" and "Unread Replies" to how they used to work
Added an option called "All Unread Posts" which now shows everything you've never read

For those of you who would like to wipe out all the bazillion pages of unread posts, click "unread posts" then click "Mark All Messages as Read". This will allow you to start using the "ALL Unread Posts" link starting from today as opposed to starting from the dawn of time ?

These links all exist elsewhere in the forum software so I'm just making them a tad bit more useful and accessible by placing them in the "Guitar Forum" menu. I've locked the 2 other threads on this topic and invite any feedback to be added here.

Nope still doesn't work. ALL UNREAD POSTS still removed stuff this morning that I haven't read!

Nothing I can do now. If you're still missing threads it's a problem with the software itself or, possibly, you clicked "mark all messages read". Either way - I can't tweak it further.

seems this problem is back again.

what i did notice this morning, is that once you read one message in a section, then all other unread messages in that section disappear off the list.

so if there are 5 or 6 unread messages in the "classified" section, as soon as i read one of them, all the others from teh classified disappear from my unread mesasages list..???

so when calling up the unread messages, I can essentially only read one message per section..

i must be honest, i use firefox, click on the unread posts and open each link in a new tab... much easier for me, and i dont experience any problem doing it this way!!
