McDangerous
Ahoy guys and gals.
I'm Tyron, and I decided to join GFSA since I'm trying to commit some more time to my guitar playing, as my Mechanical Engineering studies and PC Gaming has taken up most of my time the last few years.
I've been playing since Std. 7, so that's, erm, so this November will be my 8 year anniversary of getting my first electric guitar, a Squire Strat accompanied by a Peavy 15W TransTube. In high school I played constantly, at least 2 to 3 hours a day and loved it. I was involved in a few bands, more just screwing around with buddies than anything else. The change came when I went to varsity.
I started playing less and less, and stagnated quite badly. I was in a position where I could play most songs comfortably, but the ones I really wanted to play were so far beyond my capabilities at the time that I didn't have the time to dedicate some time and get up to the required speed. Recently though I've been getting back into playing, and I've really been digging it. I've been slowly but surely chipping away at my technical issues and speed, and I'm finally starting to see some results. I'm looking at getting a decent audio interface for my PC as well, as I like recording and covering songs, and feel that if I can hear where I'm still making technical mistakes, I could improve my playing in general.
I used to only play Thrash and Metalcore, but from 2008 I've been diversifying myself quite nicely, getting into some jazz, generic rock, blues, country, even playing some pub-classic pop songs. My current setup is:
ESP LTD EX-401DX -> Digitech MetalMaster -> Marshall MG100DFX
Other guitars are:
Cream and white Squire Strat
Ibanez RG-321 MH-WK
Cort Steel String Acoustic
Aria nylon classical
As stated above, I'm looking at picking up a Line 6 POD Studio GX, as that's the only decent interface that fits my budget and comes with recording, modelling and drum software. I'm an active member on the Carbonite classifieds forum, and used to be a very active member of the NAG forum.
Hopefully I can learn a lot from the members, help out with advice where I can, and have a good time ?
EDIT: Sorry if this is a bit long, I tend to get carried away with my posts sometimes!
