I know, I remember the album costing me R80 back in the day. I was like std5 when it came out, I still listen to the album every now and again, three little pigs is actually the worst song on the album but still pretty good. It's funny how your first albums stick with you through life, either that or I was just lucky.
Your first EVER piece of music you bought yourself!

The first CD I bought when I was 14 cost R80. I worked weekends in the hardware shop, at R25 a day. Spent most of my hard earned pennies on them silly little discs.
I remember getting some money from some job I did and I bought Offsprings Smash and Nirvanas Unplugged in New York, on cassette ?
+1!! - I had that one too - I still love that live version of Walk away, and Make it thru the night with Willy Weeks on bass.zohn wrote:

Springbok Nude Girls, Afterlifesatisfaction... I then went through a stage of only listening to SA music like the led, lithium, sprinbok nude girls etc. Good times!
Edit: No, sorry I am wrong. First bought the Doors double CD.... Then came the SA music phase...shaundtsl wrote: Springbok Nude Girls, Afterlifesatisfaction... I then went through a stage of only listening to SA music like the led, lithium, sprinbok nude girls etc. Good times!
What happened to Lithium, does anybody know if any of the members are in other groups, they were bril
They were by far my favourite band in those days. I know dave owens (vocalist) starting doing alot of his own projects, one of them was N8tive which was a cool acoustic set.deebee wrote: What happened to Lithium, does anybody know if any of the members are in other groups, they were bril
Just googled him, his latest project seems quite promising:

I saw lithium last about 5 years ago at roxy's where they did a reunion gig, still put on a great show. I think squeal also played that evening.
I'm 15 now and I bought my first LP at "Mabu Vinyl" in Cape Town when I was 12.
It was..............

Must have been around 1970 ish, Black is Black by Los Lobos on a 45 single. Good grief, just realised that was over 40 years ago ! ?

First album was Santana III. Still my favourite along with Gary Moore's Blues For Greeny. Listen to Batuka and Toussant Le Overture from Santana III. WOW.

Fantastic album. And still the gold standard for me when it comes to huge fuzz tones.
Smash was one of my first as well. Definitely the first "loud" band I heard - sitting'round the school library's cassette player with the volume turned way down so the librarian wouldn't hear the "bad words"in bridge part of Bad Habit. Bought it years later when I had my own CD player.nick wrote: I remember getting some money from some job I did and I bought Offsprings Smash and Nirvanas Unplugged in New York, on cassette ?
