    Any Better?
YES! It is a scam. I've had similar things. I wrote about it in another thread. http://www.guitarforum.co.za/special-offers/gumtree-fraud-warning/30/.
I had several similar sms's. One guy even sent me a fake transcript but got suspicious. Eventually I got hold of him. He sounded like a Nigerian guy and
as you can guess had no knowledge of vintage fender guitar amps.
Sorry another thing. What I have learned from selling loads of equipment.
Only sell to buyers as skeptical as you are.
If someone is willing to deposit a large amount if money into your account without having seen the item and having no security
in terms of a middle man like paypal they are not legit.
What's the problem? "My preferred method is direct cash transfer. Once the bank clears the money (including the shipping costs listed below) I will ship the article to you immediately."

No cashy-cashy. No sendy-sendy. Simple as that. I'd do the same for someone who lived in the same suburb as me that I don't know.

If scammers can convince your bank that they've deposited the money when they haven't then (a) it's the bank's problem and (b) they don't need to be doing little scams when they can scam whole banks. ?

I just feel we must remember that there must be the odd Nigerian out of 175 million who actually pays for stuff. And if it's direct transfer, the scammers will disappear sharpish. No need to work it out.

+1 It's just easy for people to forget the "No Money showing no item shipped" rule in the excitement of the sale.
If no one got caught by these scams they wouldn't be trying them.
              Thanks guys.
Its not just that lol...I feel obliged to be certain my axe will be in good hands...know what i mean?
I had someone offer to buy my car and ship it to the US. I checked the value of the car in dollars and pointed out to the person that it would be cheaper to buy one in the US than to ship mine there, but they insisted that I must give my bank details so they can pay. Best err on the side of caution.
                  Agree with Blu..

I got the exact same message as posted by Demigod.

Still tried contacting the guy but no answer. Just didnt engage further.

Yep. Yep, I suspect I know exactly what you mean.
scam........as soon as you see the word Item and not guitar or pedal or something, then it's a scam.
a bank account number could be a usedful thing... use paypal
As soon as you see the word Nigeria you know there's a 99% chance it's a scam, when you see the words 'payment details' and 'Nigeria' in the same sentence then it's a 100% certain scam.

Never mind Junkmail, watch your ATM cards VERY CAREFULLY, make sure there isn't a camera watching you as you type in your pin number, and don't let your card out your sight for a second.

Welcome to South Africa, enjoy your holiday. ?
