So theres a thread for Strats/ Teles/ MAny stringed/ flat tops/ arch tops/ hollow bodies/ Les pauls etc etc... still havent seen one for the fabled and often unloved superstrats...

They seem notoriously unpopular among the majority of this particular community, however there are the ones who find these instruments every bit as great as a Strat or Tele or LP.

I'm one of those.

So the rules are simple folks, pics of YOUR superstrats..

I want to see pointy headstocks, hardtails, Floating trems, HH, HS, H, HHH, HSH, HSS, SSS, SS etc, pointy inlays, dot inlays, cool finishes, interesting artwork, ebony boards, rosewood boards, maple boards, pickguards, no pickguards,

all the in your face, unashamed rock and roll of it all, and because there isnt a thread for their equally eclectic cousins of the rock and roll/ metal world; all V's, Warriors, Explorers etc are welcome..

I have a few Supers, so i'll post one at a time over a period of time... don't want to overload any squeamish users with all the crudeness of these rock machines.. c'mon folks, get out those pearls

old school RG's, Charvels, Jacksons, ESP's, LTD's, Hamers, Washburns, Caparisons etc

my 1st contribution

Simple yet so freaking fun to jam!

?
Cool. So, tell us what that is.
      of course..

Charvel model 2, 1987 (Thanks Looney, my favourite twanger at the moment!)
Very cool. I may not be a superstrat guy, but it doesn't mean I can't appreciate them. That Charvel is one slinky guitar. Looking forward to the thread filling out.
I have a number of RG type Ibbys but I'll never ever refer to them as superstrats... I reserve that term for pimped strat shaped guitars such as certain Jackson's, Charvel's, Wahsburn's and ESP's -to name just a few.

Ibanez RG's are a species all on there own IMO.... A superstrat has to at very least have a strat shaped body to qualify imo.

I'm looking forward to see the pics! ?
Odd, over here RG is listed first as one of the superstrats Ibanez makes.

Nothing odd about many peeps referring to RG's as superstrats... Many including myself just don't agree with that label as RG's are unique in their own right. Have a closer look at the shape for one... Strat? Anything but...

Yea personally I think it looks somewhere very similar to a soloist (which is classified as a superstrat in most places), just a touch more pointy right? Sharper egdes, deeper cutaways? Although the RG did come out 6 years later than the soloist, being an evolution of their Roadstar (which is a strat copy basically), so I suppose you're right in saying it's not a superstrat, the most correct thing to call the RG is a Superroadstar? I could also go on about how the Jem/Rg shape was pretty much dictated by Vai, who had perviously had a Jackson endorsement, and on his "Green Meanie" he had the cutaways made deeper - and that was the template the Ibanez refined to come up with the Jem/Rg.

You have your Ibanez 'facts' slightly schmangled there... but you're welcome to call it whatever you wish. ? I agree that a Soloist, Dinky and Roadstar may be termed superstrat. The body shape and proportions being so close to a strat...

Oh gosh, mind helping me out with what I am confused with them please?
                      LOL...

Interesting little debate this.. while you 2 are discussing roadstars, RG's and Jems and th evolution of the superstr (errr..) RG shape, how bout some pics?they dont need to be your own 8)
                        Sure ?

                        Some purple superstrats.

                          :roflmao:

Those are mighty nice twangers MIke.. :-\

They look an awful lot like some awesome purple RG's a fellow forum member owns.. :?
Lol. They look like super-strats to me Zark, sorry. Super-strat shouldn't be thought of as a bad word. What classic guitar do those Ibby's look like? A stratocaster - check the control layout, the horns, the body bevel, the scale-length, the tuners.

And they're pretty damn super too. More ergonomic, Floyd Rose, more pickup options, etc.. That's pretty much what people use the word to describe.

Great guitars. I don't think super-strat is a dirty word except to the most prejudiced guitar players.

Do some research if you sincerely wish to know the facts... I've given my opinion and certainly don't feel inclined to entertaining such a sarcastic reply... I'd rather check out pics of some superstrats to be honest... Even those gorgeous purple RG's will do, although they're technically in the wrong thread imo...

...I love superstrats. Never ever mentioned that I didn't... There are just more than one definition to term a guitar a superstrat and RG's don't fall in this category imo and many others feel exactly the same as I do about this topic. That's all.
whoa, what a guit.. PC1 Custom shop.. One day when im all grown up.. ☹

Hey, that's a pretty awesome axe right there... The orientation of the headstock had me flumoxed for a second, but I like it ?
So one day I'll go through the effort of posting real photos of mine, but in the mean time - I own these ?

                                      Ibanez RG2228GK

                                      Ibanez RG1527RB

Here are pictures of "superstrats" that I'm unnaturally attracted to ?

                                      Blackmachine

                                      Hufschmidt

                                      Blackmachine

                                      Blackmachine

                                      Oni

Now I don't know if the next two count cause they're kinda unique but meh :?

                                      Strandberg

                                      Decibel DB1 Javelin

So anyways as an RG owner I don't really care what you call em, cause I bought them to play the crap out of them as that's what they are brilliant for ? Just incredibly hard wearing workshorses with a ton of versatility and playability. ? I get a chance to post up obnoxiously pointy guitars that I love so major props to this thread no matter what it's called! ?
