Hi guys,

I've added new ad-space to the top-right. This is where the AdGator ads will show. The stuff in the middle (below the navigation) is where our in-house ads will show. It looks untidy but, hey, this is a free forum. We's got to do what we's got to do and I'm thinking this experiment could help us increase income so wish us luck ?

Cool with me! I enjoy clicking through the ads every now and then as well ?

Actually, she died and her family asked me to stop using her likeness in our promotions, so ja it's quite sad ☹

      (just kidding)
Great! Thanks. Not too much, having both at the top of the page?
It blocks some of the logo on my netbook.

Possibly, it does look a tad messy but it solves the problem of getting more ad-impressions, so I'm hoping it's worth the added minor irritation.

What res. you running? At 1024x768, it also blocks mine but in 1280x1024, it's fine.

I might have to use a smaller ad.
AFAIC, the logo could be moved 40 - 50 px to the left with no problems. Could even be smaller...

But if you want two 728 px ads running, I'd say have our own ads at the very top (buying adspace from us directly should give the advertiser pole position) and if possible, have the Adgator ad show up after the first post in the thread pages themselves. This will space the ads apart a little and, while it does increase impressions quite a bit, doesn't give the same ad-heavy impression to every single page we have now.

Norio, works fine for me and I am not complaining at all. Just wondering, could you not put both ads side by side? Make them 90% smaller and put them side by side?

                Just an idea?

That random guitar chick actually looked exactly like a cartoon version of my first girlfriend!
Fine with ads. Need to pay the bills.

Norio just check your code in Firefox (I'm running 4.0): it only displays bottom 10 pixels of the ad.
My screen res is 1680 x 1050 (widescreen). Not sure if it's code or browser issue...or both ?

                      There are ads?

EDIT: ooh I see, adblock'd .... shhh don't tell the sponsors

Lol! Likewise. Had to turn my adblock off now to restore the menu bar though. (Chrome 11 w/ AdBlockPlus) I'm hoping 'tis but a bug? I really, really loathe ads (there's a good reason why I don't own a TV) but for this forum I shall, perhaps, consider tolerating them...
yeah it blocks like half of the guitarforum logo ☹

would you mind moving the chick to the left side then ?

EDIT: Why not just shift the whole page down a little bit and use the whole top section for ads, you can fit 2 in there ?
??? The menu at the top supposed to be gone???
Works fine for me too, OSX FF 4. I keep seeing beer ads though... how do they know how do they know? Milk stout is a good morning drink indeed...

                                Disable adblock for the site.

Agreed & noted in my mind map of todo's ?

I did it the other way around for a good reason: People pay less attention to header-ads than ads in the middle-center of a page. Our advertisers ARE getting pole position because people actually look in the middle of the page ?
Alan Ratcliffe wrote:and if possible, have the Adgator ad show up after the first post in the thread pages themselves.
Not a bad idea but requires more work. Not sure how to do it ? Consider the above (and the below) and then let me know if you still think this is the way to go.

How about if I just make the header-ad a 468x60 ad? We get paid per CPM there, so ad-size probably doesn't matter. (I went for 728x90 in case it does.)

Tks for the screenie - always more helpful than a bug report without one!
