Popping the Question?

So, Jacque's thread (grat's again Jacques!) brings up something I'm needing to think about too. Soon I'll be picking up the ring (within the next few weeks hopefully), and I need to start thinking about how I want to go about the proposal. I'd appreciate some thoughts! Some background: - We've been together for three years, living together nearly the whole time - She's incredibly non-fussy and easy to please, so in all reality I could get away with "Honey, I'm home, wanna get married?" but I'd rather do something a bit more special ? - I've already done a lot of stuff like special dinners that I've prepared myself, secret tickets to shows etc. so I'd need to make it different somehow - I wrote a song for her in the early days which I put together and e-mailed, so I can't get away with "I wrote you a song babe!" ? Just scratching for some ideas, maybe stuff that worked well for others.

Reminds me of the guy who got so fed up with his the old auntie prodding him in the ribs at every family wedding, saying "you're next" that he decided at the next family funeral he'd prod her in the ribs and say "you're next".

Well done! I was talking to my wife about it on our anniversary this past saturdy ag and you know how chicks are and she got a bit tearful and all and she said she couldnt help but thinking back to the time that she proposed to me.

Congrats Warren. Well that's the easy part done and dusted. The worst is the day of the wedding! I was such a nervous wreak that minister told me to relax as I was making him nervous! Can't really remember too much about the day, I do know two things though. At the end of the day I had no finger nails left and I knew that it was without a doubt the best day of my life!

I'm still amazed how surprised she was: we're in the middle of Hot Air Balloon country. It's 5am. I tell her we have to meet down at the river at 6:15am, and she asks "Oh wow! Are we going on a boat ride??"

"Yup. Boat ride. Midwinter. 6am. Let's go."
