  • Dimarzio PAF joe, with what bridge pickup?

I fixed a friends guitar, and he gave me a dimarzio PAF Joe in return.
the pickup sounded very smooth in his les paul.

It is a Neck pickup.

go under medium powered pickups, PAF joe.

now i an not a pickup guru, i just pickup (no pun intended) the guitar and try and make it sound good.

I want to get a bridge pickup that will go down well with the paf joe, just for the future if i ever need a set of humbuckers to slam into a guitar.

dimarzio suggests the following:

"" The PAF Joe™ has slightly less power than the PAF Pro®. It balances well with bridge pickups like the PAF Pro®, Fred®, Breed™ neck model, Air Norton™ and Norton®. ""

i've heard some amazing stuff about the norton, anyone using it ?
Ive always wanted to hear the Norton, I have also heard good things about it. (in the bridge)
I have an Air Norton (neck) in my RGA121.

I would try either a FRED or MO JOE in the bridge.
If I remember correctly JOE himself uses a PAF JOE in the neck and a MO JOE / FRED in the bridge.

If youre feeling experimental , try a Norton / Air Norton in the Bridge. Could be interesting. The output for both should be about right. As long as you match apples with apples, and medium power buckers with medium power buckers.

Mo Joe works great - I've owned a JS1200 and had a hardtail RG with the PAF Joe/Moe Joe mix.
It all depends how much you want to skop in the bridge, and if you ever play brifdge position clean.
I can honesstly say the PAF Joe is one of the nicest neck HB's I've ever heard.
FRED is ALL mids - very lacking in bass response - beware!.
Air Norton, Mo Joe or something else medium would kick ass!

You didn't mention if this was for a trem guitar or a Gibson bridge type ...

Thumbs up to Andrew, agreed ...

      Good luck ...
Its not for a specific guitar yet.

but i only play solid bridge guitars 25.5'' , so it will probably end up in a future guitar i am yet to buy.
mahogany or alder body guitars. with maple fretboards.

i do play a wide range of styles, anything from light jazz to high gain rock. so something classic rock with a little touch of modern.
i control my guitar with the volume knob to get cleaner tones if i need to. so i do alot of volume stuff with my knob.

i'll go check out the Mo Joe, must have missed it somehow

+1. Another vote for this combo.

          Agreed.
Air Norton is quite a unique sounding pickup, so it's a bit of a toss up if you'll like it or not. The Air Zone can also work well to fatten up the low end in a bright guitar - ends up as kind of a PAF on steroids.
