  • The Les Pauls of GFSA (rule modification)

We can't let the Strat maniacs have all the fun.

Let's see all the Les Pauls. All the ones you've posted before, and the ones you haven't. We're talking all of the single cutaway, mahogany backed guitars with a Gibson Les Paul scale-length. We want to see the Epiphones, the Tokais, the Tanglewoods, the Corts, the Gibsons, the Ibanez. And then say just a little bit about 'em.

rule mod: Only post pictures of your specific guitar. No product shots. Even if it's a grim and grainy cell-phone pic, at least we know it's the very same guitar you plunk away on (you need not delete existing product shots, just make sure to post a pic of the actual guitar sometime ? )

Here are mine which you've all seen before:

2009 Tokai LS150

Had this one since the last year. Absolute beauty. My main gigging guitar. Pure quality. Super-comfortable chunky neck.

1983 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe

One of the infamous Norlin-era Gibsons. Heavy as about four of Reinhard's LP, and about 12 of Nick's ? but I love it anyway. Did a lot of modding before I was happy with it (mini-hums to P90s, roto-grip tuners, Bigsby B7, bell knobs, etc.). Strung with .11s now. Bit of a slim neck. Crazy low "fretless-wonder" type frets. Just needs a grounding issue sorted out before it's ready to gig. Had this since '95 and it's the possession I run back into the burning house for.

Over to you guys.
Definately getting wooed from Strat to LP.... ?
Got one of em as well 8)

      But I prefer my strat

        Les Paul Studio ?
Here's mine. Not as flashy as Singe's. 1995 (Made in Korea) Epi Les Paul. I've put in Seymour Duncan Alnico II pro and Pearly Gates pickups in neck and bridge. 50s wiring. It was my first guitar and is still the only one I own. I love it.

Nice LPD Singe. Your surf mobile by any chance, seeing as you have the Bixby?
How stable is the Bixby bridge btw with regards to tuning and how much leverage can you get out of it?

The Tokai looks pretty swanky too.
This my pretty new Tanglewood TSB58 Honey burst. What a beauty.
I really do love this guitar.

The 2001 (or was it 2003) Gibson Les Paul Standard I played for a while. It was on semi-permanent loan from a friend. ? Not a bad guitar, could have done with better pickups though. Heavy as could be.

The Vintage V100 I had. It's been sold to another member of this forum, so it went to a good home. Retrofitted with Tonerider Generator pickups, and better wiring. Rock and roll tone machine. I actually prefer this to the Les Paul above. It has a very thin neck compared to original Les Paul's.

This and Singe's Black are by far my favourite LP finishes...
Nice glamour shot of my baby.
                      Nick, got any closer pics?

This is my Carparelli S4.... You've seen it before.

Guitars always look awesome in their cases...

Lots to say about it. It feels so very slick in my hands. Has a unique neck joint and sustain for days.

@ MikeM I thought you had a black one?

Had a black Epi Custom which I recently sold..
@ Don - That Guitar looks amazing
                          @ Mike Ditto

Sorry Don, but a Les Paul is a Les Paul and that isn't a Les Paul. Close, but no cigar.

Didn't you buy that because it DOESN'T look like a Les Paul?
                              Heavy Bob....
Simon Cowell is not exactly a Les Paul either...

                                It's the Les Paul Police!

                                  Bah!

But OK.... yew be stickinged to teh rooolz OMG11111! Sawrry Donneh.

                                  Can haz chizburger now?

The law, though, is an ass.

We could have "double cutaway, alder bodied guitars with a Stratocaster scale length" and have all sorts of things that are nothing like a Strat. I like your guitar plenty (hey! I licked it) but it's not a Les Paul.
This is a cool topic,,, I'll be taking a pic of my baby soon and posting it - she's been receiving little attention of late :? ? ? ?
                                      Here's my family shot:

On the left, my 2010 R9 Iced Tea. She's a petite little lady at 8lb 6 ounces. Unbelievably versatile sounding guitar that I love more and more each day and whose chunky neck has been a revelation to me and has taken my playing to new heights.

On the right, my 1995 Les Paul Studio. She'll always be my first love no matter what, and I'll never sell her. Bought her brand new in 1995 for R5000.00. I was only earning about R1200pm at the time and so I had it on laybye at the local music shop. After about 3 months of handing over most of my salary cheque to the owner of the shop, he must have felt sorry for me and let me take the guitar even though I had another couple of months to go before it was paid for. RIP Babs Naidoo, you were a great guy and did tons for musicians and the music scene in Marizburg in the 90's. She weighs around 9 and a bit pounds and is currently fitted with a set of Seymour Duncan Alnico II Slash signature pickups which I am loving.
