The story behind your name

A recent post got me talking about how my username came about, and that got me wondering, how did all your ones come into existance? What developed such usernames to stick and blossom. There are LOTS of you out there. Mika 'the better one' (better what). Seventhson (like the band?), Icecream man, Aubs, Norman86, infernox, ToneDef etc. etc. there are A LOT OF YOU. Whats the story? And for those of you with usernames such as: Alan Ratcliffe, Keira WitherKay, Donovan Banks etc. tell us a story about that too haha ?

I really don't remember. I think maybe I thought, "singe," then speculated that no one would know what that meant, and then thought it might sound funny if I put monkey on the end to see if anyone got it. It took about 3 years until it was exposed to Bob, who noticed pretty quickly (although I didn't notice that he'd noticed). It kinda wound up with a double meaning, but I don't think I noticed that immediately.

It's full of references to "doing the deed", "doing it in the dark", biting, spanking and so on. She wants to talk before, during and after. He thinks that actions speak louder than words. She is "all over him in the A.M." He's "not much of a morning man." It's not out and out smut, and uses a lot more double entendres than it does cuss words. However, some folks seemed a bit taken aback.

At the end of the set the host said something like "give it up for X Rated Bob".

So there you go.

Well, most 80's children should know Mannemarak well due to the TV show. I watched it so religiously that my mom started calling me that as a pet name when I was little and it stuck...

When I joined the Forum, I wanted to call myself Mika, BUT!!!!!! Some other fool had called himself that, and made like one post in 3 years, so I figured I would one better him, and so I became "Mika..... the better one"

I always thought you were saying you are better than this Mika:

indireclty anyoen who started playing guitar from around 85 prolly has eddie to thank for the resurgence of guitar players to the fore of bands

Van Halen were the quintessential good time band ..music was never meant to be taken seriously but to just rock on and have a great time ..... Eddie's talents were perhaps out of place there but man it was appreciated.

My parents had some weird romantic notion that we were descended from French and use French names (and French letters for Initials). It didn't occur to them that René, although being a perfectly acceptable male name in France, was largely used as a girls name in South Africa So I survived my youth by taking on nicknames like Ron, Roland, Ponty, Zowie and Phoenix. The name itself means reborn so when I first started a software design company I was drawn toward Renaissance Design as a name. When I left computers to pursue my love of music Renaissance by Darwinian selection evolved into Renesongs.

Never made the connection between Renaissance and Renesongs until now - interesting though
