The story behind your name

FruitarGeek · 2011-02-24T09:32:59+00:00

A recent post got me talking about how my username came about, and that got me wondering, how did all your ones come into existance? What developed such usernames to stick and blossom. There are LOTS of you out there. Mika 'the better one' (better what). Seventhson (like the band?), Icecream man, Aubs, Norman86, infernox, ToneDef etc. etc. there are A LOT OF YOU. Whats the story? And for those of you with usernames such as: Alan Ratcliffe, Keira WitherKay, Donovan Banks etc. tell us a story about that too haha ?

Renesongs

The next band practice is going to be fun

Obviously over my lifetime many have teased me about my name and it's feminine qualities. Being born on 1st April I naturally can enjoy a good joke, so every time someone jokes about my name I simply laugh with them and the next day buy them a pair of shoes. This is a true story you can ask some of the jesters (my Avril Poissons) All you got to do is dive into Table bay harbour and talk to those guys wearing the concrete shoes. ?

I knew it, listened to that song the other day again 8) you a serious Eddy fan IceCreamMan?
Yebo ....Eddie should be a diety ...

indireclty anyoen who started playing guitar from around 85 prolly has eddie to thank for the resurgence of guitar players to the fore of bands

Van Halen were the quintessential good time band ..music was never meant to be taken seriously but to just rock on and have a great time ..... Eddie's talents were perhaps out of place there but man it was appreciated.

He's an amazing player. (full stop)

You know in his youth he actually started on drums with big brother Alex starting on guitar and after Alex surpassed him on the drums, Eddie took on the guitar, so intechnically those post 85 prolly owes it to the drummer, Alex (thinks its probably a good time to shut up now ? ).

But Van Halen is a great band and is the most chill I've heard so far, I just don't like those vocals so much... "How many say I?.... Jump!" ?

MIKA the better one wrote I know this may come of a real shock to some, but my real name is .... Michael...... But as I went through highschool die to the excessive amount of Michaels, I became Mika........
When I joined the Forum, I wanted to call myself Mika, BUT!!!!!! Some other fool had called himself that, and made like one post in 3 years, so I figured I would one better him, and so I became "Mika..... the better one"

I always thought you were saying you are better than this Mika:

Me too! ?

Me three!!

Renesongs wrote My parents had some weird romantic notion that we were descended from French and use French names (and French letters for Initials). It didn't occur to them that René, although being a perfectly acceptable male name in France, was largely used as a girls name in South Africa So I survived my youth by taking on nicknames like Ron, Roland, Ponty, Zowie and Phoenix. The name itself means reborn so when I first started a software design company I was drawn toward Renaissance Design as a name. When I left computers to pursue my love of music Renaissance by Darwinian selection evolved into Renesongs.

rene just be thankfull you never had frank zappa for a father or you woulda been called "dweezil" or "moon unit" ? dweezil is cool now but i bet back in school he was ragged to death about that but hey having frank zappa a rock star ....as a father i guess negated any bad feeling over the name ..

Gearhead

Gearhead refers to the notion that I like making things as much as making music. It's just that I don't spend the time practicing that I should, so I know my tables better than my scales (sotospeak).

G-Man

Yeah there is that too, I used to use the gman skin when I played halflife multiplayer ? (and all my pedals and cables are kept in a brief case)

Tonedef
