Hi guys.
I've to this point only been building amps on request but decided to step out and design a production handwired valveamp. I have had a design in my head for a while now but wouldn't mind hearing the preferences of you guys. Valve or silicon rectifier? Single channel, 6V6 vs EL84 etc.
The idea I have had for the amp is a 15 watt with EL84's and a GZ34 rect tube with a DARK volume, BRITE volume, but a separate boost into that with DRIVE TONE and LEVEL. So you can set your clean sounds and the set the boost as if it were a distortion pedal.
Would really like to hear opinions or questions.

    Hi Bottledtone

It is great to hear of your intentions of launcing a production amplifier. Is this going to be a head or combo? Do you have any photos you can post of previous work?

Do you perhaps have a prototype of your proposed model? Would be cool to see some clips of it in action, just to have something to reference the tone etc. to...

Hi Karel, I've actually spoke to you before via e-mail quite a while back. I was requiring abit of help, and you offered, but later had found a different root. Thank you for your response.

Was thinking of a head and cab, since that way the amp can be paired with whatever speaker.

My preference is 5Y3 over GZ34 for 15W because it sags a lot more. But then, I won't buy your amp...

Nah, it shouldn't, Gearhead just means that even though it's his preference, you should not cater to it since he is more interested in building his own stuff ?

              ???
If you add the VVR to the Phase inverter and power tubes like the guys at 18watt are doing, I'm sure you'll get more interest. THat way you can turn the volume down and still get the proper power tube drive, like God intended. I wonder why all valves amps don't have this.
i think the ultimate amp would a 2 channel 15watt head that could cater for metal heads and blues guys all in one ?

one channel for dirty high gain pinching guitar
other channel for bluesy clean stuff.

kind of a marshall/mesa boogie going to fender in a flick of a switch.
If you ever get to the production stage, i have a wood working shop that has cnc facilities, so if you want the cabs made just let me know, we could design a solid wooden cab to be different from the rest...
