MIKA-the-better-one
Seeing as when i looked on the forum now there are absolutly NO posts about gear or anything of the sort (rather there are mundane reports of boring sports, as well as riddles?????? :0 yes riddles)
So here is a thread which should exist on a guitar forum........ Whats the best and worst gear you have ever experienced. This could be amps, guitars, pedals, recording software, anything musical please........
BEST GEAR: For me, I recently played a customshop 62 relic (I nice relic) Stratocaster..... Sunburst, and it was probably the smoothest neck ever, worn in by relicing. For guitars that just about took it, people who argue that more $$$ does not get you top qualty are on drugs.... However the tiny terror amp it was accompanied with was less satisfactory.
WORST GEAR: Behringer V ampire head and 4 by 12inch cab, utter crap....... it was so useless, bad effects, bad clean, bad digital distortion, all just bad... That is the standout worst gear ever.....
Guitars ... well an ibanez GIO
IceCreamMan
Worst Gear: Boss MT 2 stomp box.... this thing sucked tone so bad i nearly threw it out of the window..just could not get it to work with my setup.
Best Gear : i reckon my current Strat is the best money i have spent on kit.... if bigamy were legal in ZA i would marry it....
Gearhead
Worst: an Emthree (M3?) guitar amp I got for free with a Roadstar bass I bought. The girlfriend of the guy that was selling the bass asked me to please take it out the house so I did. I still have it, since I've never dared to give it away - it's that bad.
Best: Triaxis preamp. Wow.
MikeM
Worst: Zoom 606 II ? Oh to be young and naive..
Best: Gibson LP Reissue. Changed my whole perception on guitars.

BEST
Guitars: fender 62' reissue jag....supper versatile, awsum cleans, rhythm circuit works wonders with a heavy fuzz, choke switch changes the character of your whole sound and is perfect for a solo or a thick rhythm lick or two...really, I can't stop raving about that thing....I have to get one.
Amps: orange AD30 (promise I'll have a review up by the end of next week, have been meaning to do that for a while) and AC30 hand wired....amazing rivals amps twice the price, best of the brit thing going there.....
Pedals: keely modded boss tremolo....
T-rex mudhonney...
guidothepimmp
Best: Charvel Model 4, something about that bloody guitar and the stock Jackson pups with the mid boost active circuitry just works.. Rocks proper. Best amp I ever had the pleasure of playing through was a HIWATT Higain 50 head with matching cab... mmmm.. maybe one day when im all grown up.. ☹
worst: Marshall VS30. Man what a heap. Couldnt get a single decent sound out of the thing. Oh, and super 6 (or whatever theyre called) pups. Caarrraaaapp!
PeteM
Best: I'm still in love with my Gibson ES330TD even after 40 years or so. I keep trying out other guitars but I am never satisfied. I haven't tried a Tokai yet - maybe there's still hope.
Worst: A Korg OVD1 overdrive pedal I bought in '80s. This thing sucks every bit of tone out of the guitar. I'd feel too guilty to sell it. (wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy). Does anyone know if I can mod this thing to get some life out of it?
deanBailey
Worst: Marshall Mode 4 stack with metalzone pedal
Best: Krank, Mesa 412, pitch black tuner
ActionArnie
Worst: Recently had the displeasure of helping a guy try and get good "tone" from his Zoom G1 (the one that has built-in drum beats) .... eish
Best:
- On most days my LP Classic sounds ridiculously awesome
- My recently acquired Danelectro Transparent Overdrive V1 is the best R300 I've ever spent
- Dean Markley Blue Steel strings, I love 'em
Renesongs
This relates to multi FX for stage use
Best: Boss GT 6, 8 or 10 through Roland JC 50
Worst: Native Instruments Rig Kontrol 3/4 ( you need the feet of a Geisha girl and a laptop to operate the friggen thing)
ezietsman
Best:
My Bolt-on neck Epiphone les Paul with its Seymour Duncans
My Blackstar HT5
Worst:
See Above.
Malkav
Best: RG2228 - The 8 string Ibanez prestige, loved it so much I bought one ?
Worst: The Aria 2010 Fifa world cup guitar - It was shaped like a soccer ball and had a built in speaker, if you played a note on it the entire neck bent and it went completely out of tune.

We need a criteria sheet...
Lists feateurs, price and ratings....alota work,I know.....but otherewhise this isint really going to be of much value....?
Who's gona make them(one for amps,guitars,fx....)... ?
nicovlogg
Best: Vox AC30 Handwired :'(
Worst: SX 10 Watt practice amp ?
Dinosaur-Snr
Best gear: Matt's Fuzzsilla
Worst gear: Boss MT-2
Mr-M
Pickups...
Best: Tonerider Rebel 90s - love them more than any other pickup. Ever. 8)
Worst: Tonerider Rocksongs - hated them. Dull and lifeless in every guitar I tried them in. No chime, no bite, no woodiness - no character to speak of. Maybe I got a dud set? Sold them to MikeM in the hope they might work in his guitar and he hated them too. ???
Fuzz Pedals...
Best: Zoom Ultra Fuzz - the most surprising pedal ever. Always delivers killer tones and super versatile. The best and most controllable oscillation on any fuzz I've tried. This and the Power Driver (also awesome BTW) proves Zoom are (or at least were in the early 2000s) capable of making good pedals. ?
Worst: Zvex Vexter Series Fuzz Factory - thin and shrill sounding. Impossible to get it to do the same thing twice - on the same knob settings! Infuriating and awful sounding. Even the producer in the studio I was recording in told me never to turn it on again in his presence - and he likes fuzz! It also broke on the guy I sold it to. Perhaps there is more of a difference between the USA and Vexter series than Zvex admit? ?
Guitar Wireless Systems...
Best: Line 6 Relay Digital Wireless - sounds just like using a top quality cable. Impervious to interference and drop outs. Can't say the same for any other wireless system I've ever owned or tried, except perhaps the Brace Digital Wireless my bass player uses.
Worst: Any other wireless system I've ever owned or tried.
Amps...
Best: I'm not really allowed to go there as my tonal allegiances are much the same as my professional allegiances... From other brands, I loved the Matchless DC30 my gear whore mate had a couple of years ago. But then that's still in the same tonal spectrum...
Worst: Crate GT1200H Stack (solid state). Awful, awful, awful. Perhaps useful as a power amp for a digital modeler, but nothing else involving tone, other than bad tone that is. >☹ BTW, this isn't knocking another company's product - these are discontinued (thankfully) so no harm done.

Bang for buck for was
Guitar Epiphone SG-400 Tony Iommi - As long as you don't want to play clean. Was really cheap when I bought it back then
Pedal BOSS OD-3 - Actually like it much more than my TS-9
Amp: Ibanez Valbee 5W valve practice amp
BOSS Micro BR - Most fun toy to play with.
Overpriced (Definitely not worth the SA retail price, fortunately I got it for much cheaper)
Ibanez TS-9
Peavey Classic 30
Worst
Charlie stringer blues bawls wah - Very heavy pedal but not really robust. Sound gets muted when switch is not pressed hard when turning on the effect.
Berhinger NR-100: I think I have bashed this product enough on a previous post. In short it creates more noise that what it reduces. Will feel to guilty to sell it to someone.

...EQD dirt transmitter, got one in a trade...it blows my mind...
MIKA-the-better-one
when did you get that???? I have been wanting one to, how does it cover all fuz sounds???
Vick
It goes from black keys(dan actually used one kinda extensively, that and the hoof fuzz),to early Sabbath to SRV to hendrix... Iv had pedals with a starve before, but with this pedal,it alters the tone a lot more, making it really versatile(smooth, velcro, splatty and thick), supper sensitive to dynamics(if settings are wright),cleans up with the volume...if you put a boost in front of it,yea, the whole fuzz wall thing, but a really big one(if that makes sense)...
O but when I mentioned it was versatile,I meant,it will cover any fuzz face tones,no matter how much you crank the gain(it has a lot,MI audio neon fuzz amounts)
But it doesn't really venture into other fuzz pedals territory,if you stack it with a distortion, you can maybe get a little 3knob bender'ish sound out of it,but that's about it,it "keeps its voice intact",thou I have nothing against this, its kinda how I want it to be...gearmandud has a good demo on it...
O and I got it in a trade for that DBA fuzz war I had ?
