Hey guys My 21st is in February. But I got my pressie now - which will soon be lockibg away until then :'( 2007 Gibson 1958 Reissue VOS. Pretty much stock at the moment. Very little wear, some fade but I was going to fade it anyway. It's tough to take pics cause they always show up a little more red than it actually is. The first pic is pretty close, but yea it's a nice golden maple with a nice chocolate burst (Yes I just made that up and it sounds tasty). Basically, def one of the top 3 guitars I have ever played. Maybe it's the honeymoon phase, maybe it's this huge neck, I dunno, but yea such a big jump from the Epi's, I can't believe. Click pics to see full size image ?

I also think a chunky neck makes for better tone. There's just something amazing about hitting chords on this thing. An open A in particular, just blows my hair back.

I'm not sure if you saw my question in my previous post. Is there any chance you could share with me where you got this guitar from? I posted a thread a week or 2 back about getting an R9 and am interested in the process you had to follow in getting your R8.

I had a friend bring it over on his flight from the U.S. Like I mentioned in your thread, there are other methods, the one I recommended

There's a guy in the US that you can send a pic of what kinda top you want, speicify what thickness neck and weight you're looking for and even what kinda tone you want. He has a nice reserve of RIs to pick through and find something to your taste.

I can give you his e-mail and you can ask him if he'll ship here. Shipping should cost $150 and you'll pay 14% customs.

Had a go on this today, with my butterfingers ?

I didn't know you got such a fat neck on a Les Paul! I much prefer a fatter neck, and it's so light too. Great sounding and wonderful looking axe. ?
