MikeM Hey guys My 21st is in February. But I got my pressie now - which will soon be lockibg away until then :'( 2007 Gibson 1958 Reissue VOS. Pretty much stock at the moment. Very little wear, some fade but I was going to fade it anyway. It's tough to take pics cause they always show up a little more red than it actually is. The first pic is pretty close, but yea it's a nice golden maple with a nice chocolate burst (Yes I just made that up and it sounds tasty). Basically, def one of the top 3 guitars I have ever played. Maybe it's the honeymoon phase, maybe it's this huge neck, I dunno, but yea such a big jump from the Epi's, I can't believe. Click pics to see full size image ?

My wife wanted to put it away until Dec. 18th, so I told her what if I kicked the bucket before that. So I got to get my LP Custom......... I'll be more than happy with a cheap birthday card on the 18th!!!!! ? That guitar looks PRISTINE man......once more, congrats.......may February come quick!!! (I have a feeling it's not really gonna be put away till then!!!...LOL)
Reinhard Dude, congrats man!! I love the colour, that is dead sexy. Great photos as well. Play the hell out of it!
vic First it was Aubs, now Mike....Reinhard et al are always moving Gibsons...now where does it leave the rest of us ?...we are getting serious GAS attacks now !! And my BD is many months away >☹ That tobacco burst plaintop is something very special indeed. looks real vintage.....With a LP like that, who needs a monster flame top anyway ? The '58's have great necks which add significantly to the tone IMHO.....Happy day Mike. ?
MikeM It's still really surreal ??? Guido - fat chance ? Jam sometime next week? Might have sold my amp by then though... :'( Vic, I am so chuffed. Looks better than the pics on the ad initially showed. 2007 is the first VOS year I believe? It's really really great. Nice mahogany on it too. I actually prefer plain tops to flame tops ? What else do you need? ??? You have awesome gear!! I really agree. I love big necks :woohoo: Aubs, I'd love to convince the family of that, but they want to give me something unforgettable for my 21st. This pretty much is!!! Thanks Rein ? Gonna get some Faber locking studs soon, can't wait for those.
Sean At work so using my phone, will have to wait til I get home to view those pics, but congrats, very cool 21st gift!
inflames Super sexy axe Mike! Glad you found one you like! Sorry we missed each other this week! Enjoy the guitar!
MikeM Thanks again fellars ? @Sean, pity I am not in Sasol anymore to share ☹ @Joel, yep it's pretty surreal actually.. Wanted one for so long. @Inflames, sorry dude that was totally my fault. But thanks ?
dee Very very nice. Tobacco bursts are simply my favorite of all the bursts. Excuse my ignorance, but this is what they mean when they refer to an R8 right?
nicovlogg Having just played it, I must confirm that it is indeed very, very nice. And sounds just as good as it looks. ?
singemonkey dee wrote Excuse my ignorance, but this is what they mean when they refer to an R8 right? R8 means a replica of a 1958 Les Paul. Big, chunky neck. Usually a plain maple top. The necks got thinner as production went on - with the '60s generally having rather slim necks like modern electrics (almost ?) and the tops tended to get fancier. But plain tops are fantastic, and the big necks make them wonderfully comfortable to play.
