In my view, giving someone a low ball offer is no big deal. Look, I put something up for the price I'd like, and I completely expect to get bargained with (putting "price neg" is not my style). Sometimes you get lucky (I've almost always gotten lucky ?) and actually make a profit on something second hand. If someone feels like it's not worth that much, he offers me what he thinks it's worth, and I either accept or reject. No big deal. It's a different story if he says that he'll take it and then haggles afterwards though.. that's not honest.
I have no problem with a bit of haggling if I say neg...........my ad says not neg so there is no room for bargening. I've found in general when you're selling something cheap, people think that it's an open invitation to try to get it for nothing.
So an update on this, my phone was working overtime this weekend, I had a lot of jokers and a few serious guys as well.
#8 was a phone call from a guy looking to do a trade.
"I have 20 boxes (gross) of 3M hospital grade handwash in 500ml bottles, 12 bottles per box valued at R80-00 per bottle. This is a great investment oppertunity for you to make almost R20 000." - I hung up on him...........
#9 also a call.
" I have 4 tickets to the 30 seconds from mars show tonight and will do a straight trade ".............lmao.
#10 was an sms that I got on saterday
" r u llokn @ trd? hve jkn v rp, fr cond..." - I mean common.................wtf?..........turns out to not be a jackson fly V as I thought, but a very crappy knockoff.
Seems like it's going this morning though. Will keep everyone updated if there is more lunacy.
