So here's the deal, I've pretty much grown out of my little 15w fender frontman, but I'd like to keep it as a practice amp, but it's not going to work with me keeping it as my main amp as it simply lack real prescence when playing with anyone else.
Firstly, I'm not a brand person, I'll give anything a try if it is good to play, well made and the price is right. I have no issues about buying second hand as well.
Even though I play mainly metal, I love all sorts of music and don't want to limit myself to something that is only suited for this genre. Ideally I'd love something that can hold its own to a session with a full band playing along.
My budget is about R4000. Is this do-able or should I save for bigger and better things?
Tube/SS
15/30 watt tube amps sometimes come up for sale for 4k (2nd hand) so it is possible. Dont sneer , a 15 watt tube amp pumps air.
or look at 50-80watt SS amps.. Cubes, Vox VT, Vox VR30, PEavey Vypyr range.... 4k can buy a lot of SS amp second hand... if i were in yr shoes and was thinking SS then the Vox VT(AD) 50 would be in my sights. but go try em all ...
