When Rodriguez comes here, it IS the height of his fame!
I have heard it's difficult to keep him in studio as he likes going AWOL and frequenting the nearest local pub at every opportunity!
Not that I find anything wrong with that ?
I would be keen to see U2, but I would imagine the ticket price is astronomical.
It's one of those things that your grandchildren will kill you for if you didn't do it when you had an opportunity. Hendrix? Yeah, he played down the road from me but I wasn't into all that teeth playing spectacle.
Plus, one is surprised sometimes, got dragged to Massive Attack and was treated to one of the most astounding guitar concerts I've ever been to (and I've been to a couple).

Whether you're a fan or not - It will be an epic show and a great vibe with loads of happy people - thats enough to get me there and I'm in DBN (we're not getting a show here)
They have to ship 150 containers for all the equip - so yeah, not gonna be cheap.
Renesongs
I would love to go but I can't stand Bono or The Edge.

But Rene, why? why? why? why? ... (fades out with Vox-ish overtones)

Because (* breaks into song*)
I'm bad and you know it clap your hands

Came to the conclusion a few years back that I don't really like U2... went to their last concert and it was a good spectacle and I am sure this one will be impressive with the stage that they have up, but I'm not paying R2000 (admittedly for VIP tickets where the revenue apparently goes to charity) or even over R600 for that matter for general standing. Unless they bring out a decent support act (Muse and Kings of Leon have supported them at other shows but we'll probably get the bloody Parlotones again).
dee
What the! Did you guys see the prices ?
I'm all for charity and that but sheesh...

Hmmmmm. I may actually want to see the support and leave during the show.

One of my favourite South Park episodes is the one in which Cartman tries to enter the record books with crapping out the biggest turd ever. Eventually it turns out that the 'honour' belongs to someone else, who when he was a young lad defecated the biggest dropping ever. He was so emotionally attached to his dropping that he kept it safe and raised it as his son. He named it Bono.... I love the Joshua Tree cd and a few other songs. Not sure I would go watch it though.

@ Rene: are you implying U2 would be improved by the addition of a washboardist or that we should scrap the search for a bassist and invest in a washboard mama instead?
Renesongs
IMO U2 would much improved if The edge confined himself to washboarding while Bono blew soap bubbles. As for our band you can do bass and I'll do the washboard mama. ?

I have the 360degree DVD, and I think the show is spectacular............however, the stuff they do (their repertoire) is a bit HO-HUM........
Here is my problem, my wife wants to go see them, and I'm gonna have to "bite the bullet" and go...........geez, the things one has to do to keep the wife happy........ :-\

Ja Aubs, tell me about it! I damn nearly had to go watch Gerrit Steyn (afrikaans pop flavour of the moment dude) last Saturday. I would have missed the rugby. Luckily the guy who had to go get tickets stuffed up. ? So I could click my tongue at him in dismay in front of the missus and score some brownie points, while I made a mental note of buying him a beverage of his choice next time we go out. somewhere. A bit of a win win situation for me ?

Wouldn't attend if you bought me a ticket. Cant stand Boner and they haven't brought out anything decent since Joshua Tree.

What is it with women getting things organized so quick? My wife got up at 7am, got dressed, went out and called me an hour later!.."My babe, I got 8, yeah, EIGHT tickets!!!!" Still not sure who for, I think she's gonna make some money (selling the other five)........ because I know 3 are for her, myself and Eli........

At R 2500.00 for a Golden Circle ticket in CT - come on ...
I acknowledge that it will be a show beyond Stones proportions in terms of light & sound, but ...
R 2500.00 is a month's rent for some people, or at least a week's supply of coke for others.
I get to watch Crowded House on Tuesday (yes I know - smaller venue less costs on lights & sound etc) for
R 600.00 prime tickets - still a top notch international band which I didn't have to sell my left nut to afford to see.
It's funny that Bono does so much charity work in this end of the world, yet his band doesn't seem to cater for the less fortunate & the working classes when they play here ... maybe we're not quite 3rd world enough ?
@ Rene - you make me laugh ... a man after my own callous heart !

I am going to the CT show, not quite sure why, I am not even a big fan. But I reckon, with enough beer in my ass all the lights and effects are going to blow my mind. Besides I haven't been in the new stadium yet ?
