U2 coming to ZA in Feb

IceCreamMan

it appears ....

That story's been doing the rounds for a while now.

Anyways, count me out please! Have you seen pictures of the current U2 live show? Thousands of people sitting in a stadium watching magnified images of the fab foursome projected onto some kind of screen suspended over the stage. A full 360 degrees view of course, so they can use the entire back row of the stadium, but for most people they're not going to be anywhere near the action, unable to appreciate, for example, Adam Clayton's bass technique. You WILL get to see lots of lights and lasers and I'm sure it's impressively loud.

I will probably sell one of my unborn children to go watch U2.. But if a certain Mr. Mayer comes around to this country I'd sell the child, my guits, my car and one of my kidneys..

If you read all the little trivia details, it definitely points to U2.

Dunno if I really care... ?

Got that mail, def is U2...,

i like the earlier U2 stuff but when bono started on the good samaritan shite is when i lost all interest in the band...

There was another irish band which i prefered over U2 called silent running which i had the pleasure of seeing in mid 80's in the UK. Same vein but edgier ..

Once was enough for me.

lindsmuse

A bit late if you ask me.

makepeace

its really bleak that we always get left overs..

i don't think theres even been one big outfit thats toured to SA when at the height of their success. :/

Rubbish. U2 came here in 1876 and The Rolling Stones in 1923.

I beg to differ.. I think the Stones was actually here just before the Groot Trek.. Them and the Beatles came to do a set to get the guys to move but they were overshaddowed by Paul Kruger with his rendition of 'Vat jou goed en trek Ferreira' played on his trusty LP '93 Custom (that is 1893 NOT 1993).. ?

Neps

P.S I dont even know when the Groot Trek took place..lol.. So dont quote me on those dates..

I remember last time U2 was here, SABC did a live broadcast of the show.

I doubt that would happen again, right?

That might actually also be the last time I listened to U2. ?

//Edit: that was 1998's POPMart tour.

Yep, I went to that - was never a huge fan but the show was great. But ja, once was enough, I think.

I heard are read somewhere that the Stones where going to include South Africa in their 1964 tour but where persuaded not to by the music unions.

When Rodriguez comes here, it IS the height of his fame!

inflames

Not a big fan of their music, but will go to the show.

a Friend of mine attended the show in London and said it was incredible

I have heard it's difficult to keep him in studio as he likes going AWOL and frequenting the nearest local pub at every opportunity!
Not that I find anything wrong with that ?

I would be keen to see U2, but I would imagine the ticket price is astronomical.
