Beat that.....
Eddie van Halen
I'm sure it was Joe Walsh who once said "Freddie King could blow Eddie Van Halen away with his amp on stand-by..."
I'm with Joe Walsh on this one...
But I like Eddie... ☹
+1
Hearing certain guitarists for the first time is like a damascus road event ....
frst time i heard hendrix , first time i heard page, first time i heard eddie were defining moments. Remember in the 70's we did not have mass exposure as we do today .... i would often read about muscicians before their wares hit my local record shop , Stereo Heaven in this case.
First time i heard eruption it totally blew my mind ,pushed the boundaries
Van Halen were the quintessential good times band ....instead of dwellign on darkness or sinister subjects they were about having a good time, getting laid and generally partying .... DLR was absolutely brilliant ...
choosing best guitarists is subjective ,we all identify with the godz of "our" particular era but some guitarists transcend that and Eddie is one of them , sure he may rely on wizardry but its all part of the arsenal ....
