Hubba hubba!

Ag thanks hey but I still only see mention of where he gets the top wood. Anyway, not serious as I will need to do the same thing a sthe builder. Now , where the hell does he get the ivory?Fingerpicker wrote: He mentions the wood supplier in the link provided above.

Congrats on an absolutely stunning instrument Zohn. Can't wait to see it "in the flesh" so to speak. I know you also had huge input into the overall design as well as the as bracing design etc if I remember correctly - I am so "chuffed" for you my friend - enjoy!! :applause: :applause: :applause:

OK sorry I missed your last question - still shaking my head at the other clutchplate. I saw the mahogany at a woodwork assoc fair. There was some little wood supplier but I actually think he sources all his wood from somewhere in George or Knysna. Anyway, there were a few planks about 300 X 30 or so. Roughly that anyway maybe a bit less , but certainly fine for guitar back. Different lengths. As I looked at them they all were flat sawn to the extent that some were even looking like banana skins. But I scratched around and found one and the auntie there told me that she didnt even know that she had it. Anyway, this one was a bit short so would probably not have been enough for back and sides. I took a bus card from the lady but I cant find it. I know I posted in here somewhere about the PTA woodworkers fair coming up and I am sure this bunch will display there. so maybe I'll go over and take a look.zohn wrote: Hans has his own band saw that he bought from Rodney Steadall before he (Rodney) emigrated, and a thickness-sander that he built himself - as for the hog: I'm note sure where he got it from. The luths have their suppliers...
I'm sure he'll help you to source some.
Is this quater-sawn hog you mentioned still available, and what are the dimensions of the plank?
As for a band saw, I have one but cant take a blade big enough to resaw with confidence, Well, me anyway. The thicknesser is next on my list or maybe a better bandsaw I dont know becasue the okes at the woodwork assoc are quite ok about doing little stuff for you.
See you.
