R100 (this cost is for those who only attend the concert and not the camp)
Iconic South African guitarists Steve Newman and Tony Cox are offering a weekend of wall-to-wall acoustic guitar workshops and performances for those who are hooked on the instrument and would appreciate the unique opportunity of learning up close and personal from two masters of the art in the stunning surrounds of Blue Hippo Farm in Greyton. If you do not have the time to take in the weekend camp you can simply attend the concert on the night of Fri 29 October at 20h00.
Cox and Newman are an acoustic guitar institution in South Africa and they have not performed together for several years. So this particular performance is exceptional and should not be missed by any who love the music these two guitar wizards make together. Cox and Newman are renown throughout South Africa for their many years of performances and recordings as a duo and in their own right as solo artists. Both have received multiple awards for their recorded work and continue to astound audiences around the world with their exceptional guitar skills.
The camp takes place at the beautiful, 750 hectare Blue Hippo Farm just outside Greyton. The Blue Hippo Tipi Village, situated on the farm and surrounded by majestic mountains, offers unique Native American style Tipi accommodation to our Guitar-Camp attendees. It is 4km’s outside of Greyton (2hours from Cape Town) a charming and picturesque village in the Western Cape. The Tipi Village can accommodate up to 25 people sharing and many more in the camp site. Tipis have single and double futon beds and fireplaces. Those needing to be a bit more upmarket can hire a chalet. A beautiful vaulted hall is where we will hold our workshops and concert.
Activities that you could do while not studiously practising your guitar are nature/healing retreats, horse-riding, hiking, mountain-biking, swimming, fishing, massage and healing therapies, meditation, and occasionally sound journeys or sweatlodge ceremonies (some of these activities may not be available during the guitar camp and besides, I don't think you'll have the time! ?
As there are only places for 20 attendees, make sure you book your spot early for this very exclusive event. Come and spend a great weekend full of good food, beautiful countryside; meet new friends and learn a whole heap of guitar tricks and skills at the same time.
