I never really looked into it. But last night I was playing and it takes so long to check tuning. this would save me so much time and hassle. Not sure if its worth that much though.

A pity it's a rather limiting tuner, if it worked for acoustics as well, I'd get one for Eli......

That was my thinking too. I mean, it's a tuner...

But, it seems more or less on par with the cost of an LED type tuner (a la Boss) that would be visible on stage etc. And the polytune thing really does work very well between songs. You save only a few seconds I guess, but it's very convenient. I was quite reluctant to give it back during testing...

I'm still up for this Mike - I reckon it'll still be a big saving if I have to have it sent from Jo'burg, right? I mean $99 + R75 courier compared with R1,300 sounds alright.

Well TECHNICALLY it's $99 * 1.154 for vat, but yea we'd still be looking at around R850. Perhaps phone local retailer and find out best price (Like with discount). Might only be R100 or so more?

When I actually get it tomorrow (by get it I meant I will be driving to a place that has one and buying it) I'll update on the exact cost. And if it's stupid money I may rather wait and just go in with you guys.

The manufacturer's recommended retail locally is R1500, so I doubt you'll see them below R1K. On the other hand, there is a lot that can go wrong with importing - especially when you import multiple of the same item, as SARS may well decide you are an importer and then you will need to get an importers licence plus you'll pay additional duties on top, narrowing the price gap even further. If they are shipped via courier this will happen as FedEx, et.al. do not take chances and charge the duties as a matter of course (plus about R150 clearance fees).

Plus don't forget you will have no local backup or warrantee on them (and local backup is good). IMO when it comes to electronic items, paying a few hundred extra locally is worth the extra peace of mind - especially if you are a gigging muso.

From Marshall Music in CT. Walked in there and they had only one and it was on special. So I first tried to get the price down more...but they wouldnt do that so then I got it as I did know it was a good deal and I thought the warranty was a good idea vs importing one.

Dont wanna upset anyone too much but are available off take2 under1.2 but what Alan says is sensible. Also, some sales bound to come along not too long now.
