Sounds nice, I was looking at one of the big POD units before I decided to go with Guitar Rig. Might check out the new one also if it is priced ok.

Sorry Muhammad, but I think at a third of the price the Axe's days are numbered....don't be sad. ?

Can't wait till Marshall Music gets these in, I sold my Pods a few years ago, time to get another one.

I see Take 2 have them for (roughly) 3.5k, 4.5k & 6.5k for the HD300, 400 & 500 respectively from Amazon, that should be a fair ballpark indication.

That's not bad at all considering it's a floor controller and everything. I've become more sure it won't be an Axe-FX killer though, different market segments and all that.

Unfortunately the HD500 is the only one with a USB connection. I want to record a dry and treated signal simultaneously to enable re-amping later...the HD500 is the only one that can do this natively it seems (without lots of additional cables.)

Yeah - the two lower priced models seem a waste of time - only four simultaneous effects. Even the top of the line unit is only eight (granted, that's enough for most people).

What kills 'em for me though is the lack of any acoustic/piezo amps & effects - odd seeing as the new Variax is also coming and a sizeable part of the sounds in those are acoustic instruments. Also the wall wart power supply will keep 'em away from many pro's rig.

Definitely not an Axe-FX killer, then. And that's fine, Line 6 are not trying to be even in the same ballpark I'd say.

But maybe the amps sims really are very good. That's what I care about. I want to believe they'll be the next best thing after the Axe. At least until the next wonderbox / VST plugin comes along.

Heh, it's all subjective and depends on your mixing skills more than anything, anyway.

I like my effects / amp combo's quite bare. Amp + delay or a bit of compression, and that is it, so for someone like me, 4 might be enough. As it stands now, I only have an amp and delay pedal anyhow. I'm not a gigging guitarist either.

Basically, I need to know if it will be worthwhile moving over from my current favorite setup of laptop + Guitar Rig 3 to this.

this looks really rad. but i do wish line 6 would get with the program and throw in a loop station. even if it's basic. i want me some loops. and a dedicated loop station doesnt seem worth it if it's only something i'm gonna twiddle with when i'm practicing.

Loop stations rule, they are completely worth the expense even if only from a practice point of view. I'd like a Boomerang but for now the looper on my GT-10 works well enough to practice my vocabulary over different chord progressions but I'd really like to look into one that would allow better on stage use like the Boomerang ?

but you prefer the volume roller chad? I dunno, i'm pretty sure it would be really challenging to use as if you're using a roller you'd have to take all the weight off that foot which would make you feel kinda lobsided and all that while playing a tasty jam to loop? I would explode ?

Just cause it's been discontinued doesn't mean I won't find one ? I have "contacts"

If you're not using a roller you've gotta deal with not being able to doctor the volume of a background loop which could destroy the entire effect, I am a tweaker and I'm used to tap dancing around on pedals so I'm really not concerned with the one footed shuffle ?

The biggest issue people seem to tell me about with loopers is the volume thing, and nothing would ruin a cool one man harmony riff more than having the harmony be louder than the lead or anything of the sort which may ruin the effect of the music and to me getting the point across is more important than slight discomfort. Besides I'm sure you won't have to move it very often, it's just a nice precaution ?

ah i see what you mean. but surely there are loop stations out there with some kinda volume pedal instead of the roller? coz that would do the same thing and not make me explode? lol

There may be, but the boomerang has a few other nifty tricks. Like the ability to make the entire loop play backwards at the touch of a foot pedal and a few other nifty things. Also the buttons are really quick and easy to push down which makes the timing a little easier to get right ?

yeah I can see that from the looks of the thing.

and the backwards thing could be fun do twiddle with too. =O

but until I either find a really nicely priced loop station with some wonky functionality I guess i'm gonna have to teach my pod x3 live to loop some stuff with infinite delay. ?

that or i'll get a boss gt-10 secondhand somewheres
