So, as requested, here are some pics of my axe ?

(edit) I decided to give her a name, mexican origin of course! her name is Caliopa, meaning beautiful, and of beautiful voice!

Now, there is some body damage, not too bad. so i will get that restored eventually!
overall, even acoustically, im extremely happy!
i dont have an amp yet, but at this moment, i dont care! this is just plain awesome!
I cant wait to start my lessons!!!!

If i had the cash, which i dont right now because of buying the guitar, i would buy the cube that Ettienne is selling, because it is an awesome price. maybe i can pull a few strings again and get that too! lol!

You mean a few "dings"?......not really damage? ...... If it's just a few "dings", I would'nt worry too much, it adds "character"......

That is one schaweet looking strat.

I find it cool sometimes to jam on my electric unplugged. I end up sometimes hearing where I'm making mistakes etc. and where my techique is kinda sloppy. One tends to get carried away when the guitar is amplified and there's tons of effects etc. all over the place( not that you shouldn't get carried away - that's the best part ?).

This is the really bad one where the paint is chipping off. this is the only one worrying me as such!

Yeah. Those marks make it look like you've been playing for years ? I wouldn't fill 'em myself. But then that's a big fashion among guitar players at the moment. You'll find that some companies put them out ready-worn - like new, messed-up jeans. It's a rock 'n roll thing. ?

Always loved a white strat with a maple fretboard. It's a beauty.

Don't be sad you don't have an amp yet. Remember, you might have had an amp - but also a far crappier guitar. As it is, you own a Fender Stratocaster. That's pretty neat in my book. You can't play an amp. It just makes it louder. But a strat's loud enough to learn on. When you have an amp, you'll have that to plug into it.

+1 to infernox suggesting www.justinguitar.com while you're looking for a teacher. He's got a really good track for learning, even though it can't beat the real thing. And it's all free too.

But yeah, i always said it was my dream to own a strat, a Fender strat no less! and now i do ? its such an awesome feeling, even if i cant play it yet!
an amp will come later... when i have cash no doubt! wouldnt mind getting something with my surname on it! (Marshall ? i mean, what kind of a surname is vox, peavey or roland? lol)

i have got a teacher, his name is John Wright. very nice guy, used to dance at my studio for a while! just need to start getting around to him for my lessons to start!

seriously though, im looking at getting maybe both of the following...

Marshall MS2R @ R360 (MS2R @ MaxMusic)

Marshall MG10CD @ R880 (MG10CD @ MaxMusic)

I have dealt with MaxMusic before, and i was pretty happy with their service!

Any opinions on these amps? sound wise? quality wise? I know they're Marshall's, but i need some real world opinions!
Maybe Alan can answer seeing as he's reviewed many an amp?

I cannot really give an opinion on those two amps, I have never owned or used one. But for the purpose that you need an amp for, which is basically to get some "sound" for your guitar, they may be ok.

A friend (guitar tech), who fitted one of my Strats with after-market pups tested it through a Roland Cube.......I was stunned by the tone of that little amp.

Also look at "Musicmadness.co.za" (who is a member on this forum), and does excellent deals and service.

Yes. I think there's a reason why the Roland cubes seem to have cornered the practise amp market. They sound astonishingly good for what they are and how little they cost. I wish they'd been available when I was starting off.

Actually I'm still thinking about maybe getting one, since my amp is too heavy to lug around everytime to where I feel like playing, and my practise amp is a real POS.

well, at this moment, im taking a risk...
im gonna purchase the MS2, as well as an MS4.
Matthew from musicmadness has gotten hold of me, so i will be buying from him.
Unfortunately, theres no MS2 in stock, its just been sold out. and stock is only coming later in september ☹
I really would have liked to get both at the same time!

to be extremely honest, that little MS2 in red is just so purdy, and im buying that one not only for how it sounds, but the looks factor!
and the performance of the MS4 from what i have seen and heard, just awesome for a little amp!

what has made me decide this, is that i only need a small amp for now!
i dont need effects, except maybe for overdrive! and both of these little amps offer that!
all other effects and niceties can wait for now while i first learn how to play!
i can always get a bigger amp eventually, when i need it!

at the moment, im using a friends Fender Frontman 15R (Which he wants to sell by the way! and his guitar too, i think its a washburn, but he hasnt given me too many details on that yet...)
The Fender is just too damn loud at this moment! even on a low volume!

so yeah... i cant wait for my Marshall's ?

I was looking at her as well, a mother of pearl scratchplate would look really sexy on there.

You can upgrade the saddles some point also. With some small adjustments that guitar would be killer!

so... i was out because im sick, dropped by musicmate to get my new strings....
and then i saw on display what i want... a marshall MS4!
no MS2 unfortunately!
either way, let them test it out in store for me! just so i could be convinced on it!
i am thoroughly impresed by this tiny amp!
i like the clean channel! overdrive is also there, albeit not that rough! but i have played with it enough yet!

Told the dude i could get it for R440, which i could. so, he sold it to me at R450 (from R499).
awesome! im so happy! now just for a red MS2! coz its just so prono! lol!

but seriously, now that i have a small practice amp, im really psyched! and, my lessons start on friday ?????
