I know what you guys are thinking...
"Oh god, here goes Norio again, worshipping all things Satriani and Ibanez."
But you'd be wrong. OK, I still worship all things Ibanez but, Satch, I'm not sure ☹
I got his latest album and, to borrow from US Idols' Randal, "I'm just not feelin' it". There's nothing groovy about this CD. Or maybe I just need to listen to it a bit more but I feel myself gravitating more towards Andy Timmons these days. It just feels like Satch isn't being his usual groovy self on the professor release.
Granted, there's some really cool playing, especially the classical guitar on Andalusia but, somehow, I feel like I've heard all of it (or most of it) before.
Anyone else feeling the same way?

Agreed - Sach seems to be going through a flat patch, (probably mid life crises) I predict that over the next 10 years he's sound will become less flash and more legend I mean the man is a genius his not going to grow stupid overnight.

To be honest, the only album of his I took to was Surfing With the Alien. Aside from isolated tracks after that, I felt that what was good of his stuff was not original and what was original was not good.

I must say, I loved Super Colossal. And I love seeing him do more anthemy, catchy tjoons. I'm all for that. But what I hear in Satchafunkilus sounds more like "Super Colossal 2". I don't hear many new ideas / melodies / anthems ☹

I really loved Crystal Planet. It was my intro to Satch, and I found every track on there brilliant and inspiring. I had a listen to Super Colossal when it came out, but to be honest, I was not so impressed... :-[

Listening to it now and I must admit, on a second listen, I'm hearing the grooves I was missing yesterday. But let's keep in mind that yesterday I was in a foul mood and today I'm in a great mood ?
"Revelation" is actually such a beautiful song. Maybe I should give an album a week of listening before I comment and thrash ?

And "Come on Baby" is also such a beautiful song!
[me=Norio]washes his mouth out with soap for saying such horrible things about the Professor[/me]

Only 4 albums did it for me..Surfin' for its audacity, Crystal Planet for its catchiness and Joe Satriani for its quirkiness and Not of this earth for its raw feel.
@ Norio : HEATHEN!!!! ?
Vintage-Vibe
Apparently, he's been so stressed out over the last 15 years he's losing all his hair ! ?
In the END the SONG will win, not the player !
Satriani
Yeah Norio. Come on baby is a beautiful song. So is Revelation, and musterion is just nuts! Also...I just wanna rock is very cool (much like Crowd Chant)

Satch is a legend, the guy inspired way to many guitarists to mention,
and shaped guys like Vai...
my favourite albums : Crystal Planet, Super Collosal , Love in Space

Satriani - not to be a killjoy or anything, but you can land the forum in trouble by posting links to commercial tracks. Unless you have the artist's permission. I've removed them - sorry.
Satriani
I didn't know that. People post youtube videos of original tracks on here. How do we share songs we like if we can't post them?
AlanRatcliffe
...and Youtube had major legal problems with the record companies and film companies.
Legally, you're not supposed to share them. The best you can do is post a link to the samples on the artist's site, the record company's site or something like Amazon, which has short samples.
NorioDS
Yup, sadly we need to be careful of what we post. I recommend linking to an iLike page or Last.fm page. Google those if you're unfamiliar with the names.
NorioDS
With regards to the videos, there's no download link so that makes it safer for us to post. The song you uploaded has a direct link to the MP3 so it's a bit more dangerous.
But don't let that stop you from posting other cool stuff. We love it man!
