Embraced the dark side I have (NGD)

Bob-Dubery

Cort Strat copy and a Roland Micro Cube. Both 2nd hand and well looked after. Decent clean sounds from the amp (I found the "black panel" emulation worked pretty well for me). Main problem I had was that it was strung with 9s and those were way too delicate for me. A set of 11s on it and voila!

Hey Bob, welcome to the world of electrics. Congrats.

Remember, it all starts with a Micro Cube, and soon evolves to 400W Marshall stack!!! ? ?

Yerr those dark side guitar goodies should amount to a good 1% of your entire guitar capital ☹

Nah. I'm pretty sure that I'm a twin reverb kind of guy.

So when are you upgrading Bob ? You'll definately need a pedal or two.....and then there's the upgrading of PUPS to be considered as well. 8)

I wonder how many forum members there are with a Cort and a Twin? 0, zero, nil, zip, nada, f@k@ll? :?

There's always a first, Gearhead......... ?

Sean

Agreed. But one thing at a time Sean.......this is only the beginning........watch this space!!!! ?

Awesome Bob! A perfect "testing the waters" little setup. I'm pretty sure you're a Twin kind of player too. Maybe Deluxe - the Cube Blackface is modelled on a Deluxe IIRC, and has a bit more sag and dirt on tap than a Twin. Those Corts are great aside from palm shredding saddles.

Err... me? ?

Nice Bob, and elevens are bound to sound good, but perhaps it needs a setup..

Gearhead

I meant just a Cort and a Twin? :-\

May you have a lovely Cort-ship...

Polygamy with guitars is smiled upon. I'd like to hear you with different tunings on that now...

Soo.. Can I sign up for the morgan NOW? ?

I've got a Strat to trade you, so whenever you're ready, i'm good to go! I'll even pay the postage! ?

Stay tuned for the competition! My first recorded solo :-[

The guitar is actually a dark blue colour. It looks black in all the shots I took :'( But we all know the colour isn't important.

??? You have learned much.

But you are not a Jedi yet.

Already taken care of. As reported it had 9s on it when I tried it, but I wanted 11s. Put those on and of course the bridge came up a little. Mark at McGibbon's set up the bridge, adjusted the neck and gave the nut the once over. It's playing nicely now.

Well the honeymoon is already over.

I find tone pots to be fairly useless so I am keen to rewire this so that it has a volume control per pot. So I need to figure this one out - I don't want to turn one pickup off and have it pull another down.

The only case I can think of where tone pots come in useful is something that I had read about years ago and tried last night. You roll some tops off of the middle pup, roll them all off of the neck pup, and then you blade switch can give a sort of wah-wah effect. But I can't see this being that useful or practical.

The blade switch... is it expecting too much for these to be silent? The switch on this guitar makes a small noise as you move from one position to another. Small, but audible (and made worse by delay).

Yeah I know.... I need to take it to pieces and spray everything out.
