Hi guys, does anyone know any books they could recommend to an aspiring Bassist on technique/bassline construction etc. Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers, gabriel
rather spend the money on a good bass tutor ........... as a bassist there is a limited amount of theory( far less than guitarists or pianists) to learn and the rest is all technique....a good tutor could have you up and running in a few weeks and at a good level too.......... too many people think playing bass is easy ...and yes to "push root notes is easy" but if you aspire to more than that as a bassist ..and i hope truly that you do ........... find a tutor ........
Ah ok, i was looking for something that would help me with what to do rather than just "pushing the root note" as you say. How to construct a bassline around the chords etc... Thanks for the reply. I am looking for a tutor, just go t to finish my exams first....

Ha ha, that reminds me, I was playing bass with this band and the guitarist was berating me for playing an F# when his root was something else. (can't remember the chord now but it was some diminished or b5) It took me ages to explain chord theory to the guy and he didn't get it. Eventually we just had to move on.

chord theory and construction goes a long way as a bass player.
