I'm starting to play again after a small matter of a 20 year break... got a hair cut, got a job... the rocker remains.
This time round its a bit different though. I want to really focus on the notes and the sounding. I'm a lefty - bitch thing in SA.
I had a look at equipment on the net, did some pricing etc. I then dropped into a few music stores, went home cried a bit. You can get ANYTHING in Cape Town as long as its right handed & its a Cort (small joke).
I have settled on importing a 1936 Gibson EH-150 lapsteel & amp (40w). Looking around it seems people still love this amp.
This is a REALLY historically significant set.
Gibson's first non-acoustic.
Gibson's first amp.
The first decent pickup (the Charlie Christian)
Nice thing about lap slide is that there is no bridge offset. The instrument is almost 100% symetrical & apart from the nut, making it LH is no sweat.
I have some great blues lap slide instructionals & am ready to roll. Now all I need is a Weissenborn... (and to sort out a 220 -120v step down...)
Looking forward to the banter & sharing...
