The thing with click is that it needs to be a click or a bright sound in order to hear it over the other sounds in you headphones. It is this character of the click that makes it bleed from headphones onto condenser mics. I know some people use a drum sound as a click but here again you stand the risk of bleed through the headphones.
Ah, but if you get bleed from a drum track, it blends into the mix. ? Doesn't apply in Conrad's case anyway. ?
Something I learned drumming with a click is it doesn't actually need to be incredibly loud or bright - done right, it's subconscious and when you hear it, you are out of time. ?
BTW - The Korg metronomes with lights are also
very handy for recording. Turn off the beep and just use the lights.
