This fortnight we managed to squeak in 4 entries unfortunately Only one entry for the B category so I am not going to divide into categories this week (sorry Ewald) Please bear this in mind when voting
Hope I'm not too late... Here's mine for the week: A-Warren_Double Trouble.mp3 http://www.box.net/shared/cb37qula8k

Here's my entry, for lack of a better idea I did some gypsy-music (I think) style blues. There's two tracks. Epi LP through the HT5 with some delay and some overdrive. Used my new usb lightsnake cable to record from the amp's line-out. Recorded with Ardour in Ubuntu. Seeing I don't have proper legato technique I'll go for class Beta. http://www.box.net/shared/q7tkoxikcl

Evo category A duble stop challenge. I had 20 minutes, cos i only saw it now... but hey, its one more track to crit :) http://www.box.net/shared/c04u8cyhoi

Here goes. Double stops on both guitars. http://www.box.net/shared/iyd6p6tc4h
(old forum) Poll Results: Double Stops

• Warren: 4
• ezietsman: 6
• evolucian: 1
• PeteM: 10
Sheesh, nice entry Pete. +1 from me.

@EZ: very cool entry. I'd have no idea how to go about Gypsy blues, but there it is ?

@Evo: if I could churn out something like that in a mere 20 minutes I'd be a very happy guitarist.
I always look forward to Ezietsman's entries because he has good ideas, and we had another here. I thought the feel in the rhythm was more eastern European, Greek or Russian perhaps. The juxtaposition of that rhythm feel with the melody line is what makes the piece so effective.

But only one vote. It has to go to Pete who must have won on the double-stop count and got that feel of the great country players, guys like Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins.
I voted Warren!!! ?. Just cause its the only thing i could see myself playing and thats why i related more to it.

PeteM did an amazing job with the double stop technique, but country is not my thing(no, not starting a war, just an opinion.....)

Evo was great, 20 mins...uh??? ???

Ezietsman, kewl chune, just a bit slow for my liking

All in all good job peeps, ?. One of these days i'll get into one of these weekly comp thingies, when i have time.
I enjoyed Evo's entry for the way to the two guitar parts worked together and for the movement in the rhythm part. Very nice.

Warren: What happened? It was just getting interesting and then stopped dead like your ran out of tape or something. I tried this from two different computers over two different connections and it just stops dead. A pity. I enjoyed the percussion track - clever sounds and rhythm.

Sometimes less is more. Only 4 entries this week, but the overall standard is high.

Sheesh, I dunno Bob. Seems a bit of a mess doesn't it?

I made the grave mistake of downloading the Amplitube demos for both V3 and their Fender stuff...and then tried to do some fresh recordings this week using those Amplitube plug-ins...and couldn't find a tone I really liked...so I eventually ran out of time (it's amazing how much time us blokes can waste fiddling with knobs and all that) and just stuck with my original, somewhat sloppy entry from last week.

Actually, I think lately I'm biting off a bit too much at once: stuff to learn for band, stuff to practice for guitar lessons, stuff to do for challenges etc. etc. ?

On the plus side, Amplitube has some amazing simulations. Much better than the Line6 Gearbox stuff I currently use, so I learned something this week.
hehe... 20 minutes was all i had, lol. Haven't been here for a while but hey, at least there was another entry. The rhythm incorporated double stops in octave form and the lead did too in a few places. I didnt have time to bring things out in the mix nor to do a proper ending... it all fades into one guitar with some country single note lines... the end was on the V and I forgot about going back to the I cos the time was 7:57pm, hehehe. Also the first time i picked up the electric in a month and a half... damn I missed this fing.

Everyone's track was good however... ez's wif a polka type blues... very inventive. Warren's was very cool as was Pete's. Will have to consider them seriously for a vote.

Nice job guys ?
Very lekker entries this week.

Warren: Nice melody going there - double stops are great. I like the effects on rythm guit but I might have gone for a cleaner sound on lead guitar, but that's just me.

Ezeitsman: Love the laid back feel and enjoy the break-up on the double stops.

Evo: Hectic - always something interesting with your entries - an agro mood eh? Or maybe rushed?

Yeah dude... rushed would be it, hehehe... hence the steve gadd drum line too, lol.

Country's also not my main thing but hey I like to challenge myself across all genres. That's what great about these weekly challenges - nothing ventured nothing gained.

There's always time but not always the determination eh? ?
Thanks for all the nice things you said ? The competition is a bit stronger than I expected, I may have tried a bit harder if I knew ? Pete's entry is clearly the best within the rules and hence got my vote. No way I can play like that at the moment.

Killafo: Pete's right. You can enter if you decide to. An entry doesn't happen by itself ?
5 days later
:applause: Congratulations Pete you're it. PM the next challenge topic to me when you have a moment. :goodtimes:
