Impressive stuff Norrie ? I won't say anything about the bend ? I'd say don't over-focus on your chops, rather pay a little more attention to your phrasing...but you're definitely on the right track. Keep it up ?
NorioDS
Thanks mate ? By phrasing, you mean like melody and stuff?
I'm gonna try do a ballad soon which should help me focus on everything but lead noodling. Should be a nice challenge for me. I'll actually try make the whole song without any noodling at all and then add it in later if the song calls for it.
By the way, any name-suggestions for this track?

Right on bro. Perfect example would be "For the love of god", listen to the different ways Vai plays the main motif. Focus on the usage of various technique (staccato, legato, glissando, vibrato, double-stops, bends, prebends etc) that will further the melody in terms of listening pleasure ?
Something i can suggest is, play in the dark (sounds weird, i know), but if you're like me and don't know your entire fretboard eyes closed, playing in the dark will help you cut out the flash and going for the crazy sweeps and taps etc etc and focus on making each note count. Hope it helps
Cheers

Thanks mate, I love the suggestion. Will definitely go for it! You know, I love anything that helps me evolve my PHILOSOPHY of guitar. Because that usually begins a many-year-long process of constant improvement. Far more than can be done with a new scale or a new technique.
Am I making sense? Anyhoo, thanks ?

+1. I used to make my last band do that. Makes you listen and you don't try anything you are not 100% comfortable doing.

If you intend to play out you going to have to get used to playing either in the the dark or staring into a bed of halogen lamps. It also helps if you are comfortable playing without being able to hear yourself as most of your band members particular the vocals believe that guitarist should be seen and not heard. ?

Not a problem, Rene... Cunning plan, I has one ?
I will just play instrumental stuff or be the vocalist or get incriminating photos of my band-members. You seee? Sorted! ?
PS: Comments on mah track?

Not bad for a a first recording as you mentioned sometimes you just have to say Fuck it and start recording. I'm not going to make any comment about tone or mix as that something you will get the hang of has you record more and there are many more on this forum more qualified to make those comments.
So as a composition - a little pedestrian - it doesn't change much - I would use this as a part to another composition
Even in an instrumental number think in terms of intro, verses, choruses, middle 8, ending. Another thing try not to put everything you know in one lead break same something for your next composition.
Well done youve made the first step which is always the hardest
NorioDS
Thanks Rene ?
I'm really loving all the angles I'm getting here! It's really gonna help!
As far as getting an intro, verses, chorus, etc go, I find it quite hard. Do you have any basic guidelines I can work with? Will definitely try get that right with the next one.
Also, definitely agree, I through everything I had in there ? My biggest thing to keep in mind is probably to turn it from a jam-session into a song. That will take practise as I'm only really used to "practise" mindset and "jamming" mindset. Not yet "song-writing" mindset BUT that was the whole point of starting to record myself!! Thanks so much!
