I seem to remember responding to that. You can subscribe to a thread by clicking on the "Notify" link at the bottom of a thread or clicking the checkbox under "Additional Options" when you reply. You can see and manage your list of subscribed threads from your profile.
But this was actually quite funny. I go to HC sometimes and some time back I saw they were firing some warning shots about new design and when I went there this morning, lo and behold it looked nothing like it used to. And the okes over there are perforing hey!
That's been going on since late last year. Many of the tech literate guys warned them that the system they were "upgrading" to wasn't capable of running the forum properly and the design was bad, but they forged ahead regardless. The first time they went live, the site crashed in minutes. I actually took heed of how they handled the debacle (or not, as the case may be), and resolved we wouldn't have anything similar happening here. I love learning from others' mistakes. ?

Alan, I agree and disagree. The member list was a great way to search for a member. Lets say I want to send a message to Matta, I don't know his complete name and there are others on the forum with similar names. So clicking on some of the names was useful in finding posts.
It was also a cool way to find the members web pages and blogs. I do allot of blog reading when I can't sleep ?
