At around 12h00 this morning, you'll all see a new face to GFSA along with a whole bunch of new features. We've been slowly building and testing this in the background and we both (Alan and I) feel that it's ready for YOU to start testing and enjoying ?

We love it and we hope you will too! (It might take a week or 2 for you to warm up to it, so give it a chance ?)

If you have any site- or content-related suggestions, please post them here. There's a separate thread for technical issues - please use that one for anything that's not content related.
    Hey Norio.

The new steup looks schaweet :applause:

Sure it will take some getting used to but change is sometimes good isn't it.

Nice work dude. Wicked forum and a great bunch of people on here.

Rock n Roll and keep "goofing it" ?
      Hey guys

The new site looks great, well done...
Very cool - well done fellas.

Just one thing that I cant find - I liked the "show new replies to your posts" bit.

Otherwise it looks great and Im sure we'll have more comments after a few days of use. Thanks for your effort.
          Well done guys, looks great!
Will take a while to get used to ?
To Norio and Alan........Nice one.....The new look is great......

How about a button for "recent unread posts" like the old site.......It is there as a drop down but a button would be real handy......
              Well done guys :applause:
There used to always be a link to "home" near the top of whatever page you were on.

This was useful because you might be checking your PMs and then want to go and make a post in a specific board. So you could click on "home", go to an index page showing all the boards and then select the board you wanted to post to.

I don't see that feature or something like it now.
It really looks very good. Thanks Norry & Alan.

Are we going to have a little search box?

There IS such a link in the features section, but it's a little confusing IMO because it takes you to the articles home rather than the GFSA home.

For that you just click on "Guitar Forum" on the banner with all the other links
Well done guys, thanks! This is absolutely great!
The new colour scheme is an improvement. Especially using maroon for hyperlinks instead of dark blue. The blue was sometimes not that visible against the background colour. The maroon is far more visible.
                            Just a thought..... :-\

Is it possible to lock the GFSA banner at the top of the page.
It would be handy to be able to click on the tabs irrespective as to how far down in a thread you are.
Saves you having to scroll back up to the top again to navigate somewhere else.....
Unread Posts - is under the first dropdown. We'll see about a separate button, but with the new additional content links (and hopefully more to come), space is at more of a premium (particularly for those viewing on smaller screens).

Index/Home Link - Clicking on the "Guitar Forum" header of the first dropdown takes you to the index. Similarly, clicking on "Articles" takes you to the articles index (with all the categories included). I was thinking of making the entire header image an index link too.

New replies - good point. I don't use it, but I'm sure we can add it in to the first dropdown.

Quick search - didn't work very well anyway. The link to the advanced search is under the "Guitar Forum" dropdown.

Personally I'd like to see when I have a PM, the way I could with the old site. The link to browse member profiles is also gone, but I think I'd rather not have that browsable to anyone except mods and admins anyway - keep the spammers away.

Further than that, I will be updating all my old articles and adding them at the rate of one a week from now, alongside a new review and a blog entry. I'll also be starting up the newsletter again, to be delivered regularly on Friday mornings. For those of you wishing to contribute site content, I'll be giving out details in the next week or so. We've added in both Donovan Banks' and Graeme Sacks' blogs to the blogs department already and hope to add more soon.

We have a competition with a BIG prize coming up at the end of next week - stay tuned! I'm also hoping to make that a regular feature.
Well, I'm sold - love it! :applause:

The new interface is intuitive and stylish.

Personally, the only thing I don't like is the red font colour on the main page for reading categories and posts. Find it a bit tough to focus the eyes. But, hey, maybe its just time to see (oops) the optometrist. :-[

Congrats and thanks, guys - it's great!

Wasn't the header image a link before? Clicking on the "Guitar Forum" header does indeed work, but it's not as intuitive as the "home" tab that used to be there.

                                  That's gone? Bummer.

But you can get to it anyway by clicking on a member's name in the headings of each post.

BUT if you take that away then I don't see an easy path to getting at one's own profile to change passwords, sigs, pictures or any other attribute of the profile.
We definitely need a link to each member's own profile and account settings. You can click on a member's profile link from a post, but you can't browse a list of members the way you could before.

I'll see if we can get the PM notification back.

Above all, know that nothing is set in stone yet. We're seeing what we have missed/misplaced as we go and sorting it out. It shouldn't be too long until we have the same functionality as the old site, with the added features of the new.
