My Marshall JCM 600

a few weeks ago i picked up a very good deal on a marshall jcm600, which i could not resist.

There is very little info of this amp on the net, was in production in 1997 for a short while.

60watts
2x El34
4X 12ax7

I run it throught a laney 2x12 GS cab(celestion seventy 80's), which is very dead and flat sounding speakers, exactly the tone i like.
its the ultimate gigging tool.
I only use a tube screamer infront.

this amp has got some balls.

and it out performs in the studio, i've got a clip i recorded in the studio i'll be uploading next week.

DI out, easy to access the valves, with only taking 3 screws apart, and lots of space for other stuff.

When i got the amp, one of the power amp valves was not working, and the other one decided to go the other day, so the amp is currently in for a service.

Just need to decide which valves i want to try this time.

That looks a really neat amp. All you'd really need for a big club gig. Is it more like a JCM800, or a JCM900, or something else entirely?

I can compare it to the JCM800 slash signature head, maby just a little bit less gain than the slash, but more gain than the standard JCM800.

the sound i get out of it that i use it for is ozzy, guns n roses, iron maiden type tone.

this one is a keeper.

can anyone recommend valves i can look at for the amp?
So far i am set on sovteks.

And is that an OD2 next to the screamer?

Boss SD-1 , my gateway to the zakk wylde tone........

Wondered about those SD's, been wanting to get a souped up version of the old OD range...

This is one killer amp, Manny visited me and we placed it on my Marshall 4x12.
This little head rocked the 4x12. It has some sweet tone, and you can crank it without blowing windows out.

I'm super impressed by this amp! Great find Manny, now you keep that little gem in your hands!

Valves, you know me go for some: JJ's ?

Nice amp, would love to hear it in person.

i got JJ's in my JVM, they are very dark sounding valves not sure i like that much. wannabrighten up the amp a little so i am gonna change them out soon for some TAD's or Tung Sol's, the Tad's are apparently less noisy than JJ's aswell.

Yeah i tried JJ's , was okay, but looking for something different for a change.
The amp currently had JJ teslas in that is very old.

i work at a studio now, and the delta bleus is still very handy on recordings...........

Edit: i knew the deal was to good to be true, openend it up, and saw that the filter caps have been replaced with incorrect ones, so have get that sorted out first.

And it still has its orginal valves from back in 1997, which is JJ tesla's. so that also has to go.

Caps are not that expensive, still a very good deal!

If I were you I'd try new Mullards. If they are half of what the NOS are, wow ?

yeah i checked the caps is very cheap infact.

I have looked around , and maby decided to go JJ for the EL34 and sovteks for pre amp section, i will also experiment with the mullard to see what affect it has.
