Hey guys and girls.

I have a problem with my amp.

When I play hard there is a type of farting sound that occurs. It almost sounds like bass distortion...?

My gain and bass settings are on zero and the volume is at around 50%.

I have never had this issue before and I have never played my amp at full volume.

Does anybody know what could be wrong or what I could do to fix it?
Have it checked out. In my experience, distortion at lower settings is usually a problem with the circuit. dry joints or a faulty component (often in the power supply).

Besides the electronics that could be shot, you can also remove the cabinet front cover and then gently press against the speaker paper cone. If it makes a grating noise when pushed it, then the voice coil is fried. Else it could be your lead, your guitar itself if it has onboard electronics - check the battery!

All great advice! Battery and cables are the biggest cause of problems and should always be the first things you look at in the event of a problem.

I am not familiar with this particular amp, but farting in valve amps normally happen when some of the capacitors in the power supply start going. Need more info to be able to say more.
yeah one of my bass students had similar prob of distortion thru amp.......... ended on being the bass's battery for active pickup was well barely holding any charge.....changed it and prob sorted.......... think someone else mentioned this but sometimes we look for the big probs when they the little ones.......... ?
