SO I dont know who has been up to date with this group Die Antwoord, previoulsy, Max Normal. there video has hit over 2.5 million views on youtube, and have just signed to Interscope in the USA, thats with DR DRE, and Eminem. So Listening to their music I realised that there s a reason they have done so well, its because they actually have manged to intergrate South Africa into their music and be bloody clever, and sound great. The songs arevery clever, and the whole personna is amazing. Really talented, clever trio this........ Just listen to the song on there home page. http://dieantwoord.com/ I dont know many who are this clever and good at what they do.

Sies man hierdie mense vloek verskriklik! ?

I think they're good thanks for the intro!

So Parlotones suck for their shameless rampant commercialism, but Die Antwoord represent artistic merit?

Sigh.

Uh huh. Got it in one. Parlotones: soulless generic pop. Die Antwoord: something the world has never seen before. The antithesis of sucking up to commercial interests.

Thats art in the same way that pooping on a canvas and planting a daisy in it is. Moerse original, but still basically only crap presented in a artsy manner.

PeteM

Sensationalism smacks of commercialism. I think they are laughing at everybody - good luck to them - hope they make big bucks.

I think BMU hit it right on the head... YES!!!

Die Antwoord, I dont think represent art at its finest, I would rather just say creativity, and a sense of fearlessness in what they do....

Like singermonkey I dont like them much.. however they whip the parlobones any day

BMU

Fine, whatever. ? Fair point I guess. I'd probably agree that one of the worst sins in art is to be safely conventional. I actually don't give a flying fudge about either of them, there's so much actual good music out there.

NorioDS

Really don't dig them and also find them embarrassing. And the guy-girl in the prrrrrotackshin video is just scary ?

When it comes to awesome local stuff, give me Van-Fok-King-Tasties any day! They feel a lot more "real" than Die Antwoord rapping about being gangsters/ninjas/insert-weirdness-here.

IceCreamMan

bought the latest goldfish album today .... aint a fan of the genre bt any means but caught them live a while ago and something about them is infectious .... 2 good lads making great music ....

die antwoord , a novelty to me that will soon (an has) waned. but good luck to em ...i wish em zillions ....

There's a big link in my mind with that movie last year, District 9.

Me too. Also Corne and Twakkie. For me it's the humour. There was a lot of humour in District 9. And there's probly more links elsewhere - I'm a bit too out of touch to know. I'm just so sure that the humour will be lost on international markets anyway. Kind of wierd to think that there's people that will love this music without understanding the whole background - the social thing.
