hi ya all, just thowing it out for suggestions.......... i'm having my own website built at moment ......... (i been using a free site so far) but decided to finally get my own site sans all that cheesy advertising on the free site.......... but now choosing a url addy is important i know...... ok 1st choice is keirawitherkay.co.za (it is available) but is long winded and hard to spell witherkay.co.za which i like too and is easier (thanks bob this is your suggestion) worldguitarist.co.za nylonguitarist.co.za kwmusic.co.za (but this ounds like a music store not a musician ) keiramusic.co.za acousticguitarist.co.za thing is it must either be my name or describe what i do which is ..acoustic/nylon string/ guitarist /world music .......... but i do not wanna use the words classical , flamenco , latin or jazz cos that compartementalises ( is that a word heheheh ) one even tho i do play those genres so to the peeps out there in guitarforum land............ what you think........... ?????????? so far witherkay.coza is top of my list but i'm open for suggestion i want something easily spelt and easily remembered....

what about , keira@musicgirl.com. or keira@musicgirl.co.za ,keira@witherkay.co.za , witherkay@lessons.co.za :-\

I still say keirawitherkay.com. As a solo musician, your name is your brand and everything you do should reinforce it (spiral marketing). Plus, regardless of the fact that keyword and description metatags have been depreciated, having the domain name adds major weight to the site in Google. As I mentioned earlier, also register witherkay.com or .co.za (R50 a year extra for a co.za) and park it on the same domain and use that for a simple email like keiraAT witherkayDOTcom.

I agree with Alan, www.keirawitherkay.com and www.keirawitherkay.co.za will be the best addresses.

Keira, I have tons of web space and even more bandwidth.
If you want to I could host your site for you at no charge.
I'm already hosting tubetamer, so don't mind adding a few more sites.

thanks for the offer inflames. truly most kind, and appreciated, but i have already paid for the 1st year for the domain name keirawitherkay.com and i have my site hosted (although not up and running yet ) already

thanks inflames and everyone else for the help .once it's up and running i will be asking for advice and comments on how to make it more effective for my needs.......... so all the computer background of many of the forum....will definitely be appreciated.......

thanks again
Keira

Personally, I would have gone for www.awesomekeira.com, but hey, that's just me.

Just a bit of advice

Use one hosting service, but try and register as many combinations of your name as possible. We have currently got a situation at work where our trademarked name, is being held to ransom by a schmuck in Durban who is trying to be funny. He registered the domain to try and extort money out of us, about 5 years ago when my employer wasn't concerned with domains or an internet presence. It is Cybersquatting and right now my boss doesn't wanna spend the R20k odd it will cost in legal fees to wrestle the domain away from him.

For me, it's acousticguitarist.co.za
it's easier to search on google then your site will be more popular
